Vehicle Detail

My father bought this RX7 GXL new in 1986 and babied it all his life! When he passed away three years ago I ended up with it. All mechanical parts are operating normally. The engine has good compression, oil pressure is within factory specified tolerances, and transmission/clutch are in excellent condition with no clutch chattering or slip and shifts smooth as silk. The alternator/electrical system runs perfectly. Brakes are good with about half their life left and have been inspected/maintained as specified in the owner's manual. All fluids have been changed and other maintenance accomplished religiously at the factory service intervals. Since I've had the car I've replaced all four tires (59,000 miles), replaced the battery (59,000 miles), installed new Tokico shocks (65,000 miles), replaced the multi-function switch that controls the wipers (65,000 miles), replaced both rear mufflers (68,000 miles), replaced the air conditioning compressor/idler bearings and converted it to freon 134A (68,000 miles), and replaced the shifter bushings/springs (68,500 miles). The car came with the automatic adjusting suspension (the one with the little switches on the center console to change the shock/struts from "normal" to "sport" setting) but since you can't buy the adjusting shocks anymore when I replaced the shocks/struts I took out the components mounted on the shock towers. I left the switch on the console for authenticy purposes. but it's not hooked up and the care now rides on Tokico performance shocks /struts. I think I have all the components I took out and if I can find them I'll send them with the car. All other electrical switches, motors, gauges, etc. are in perfect working order, including the radio which is the premium AM/FM model with auto reverse cassette player, separate equalizer, and four speakers. Very 80's! The exterior is immaculate, especially for a 24 year old car. My father purchased the car in Carson City, Nevada and it spent all of its life in Nevada or Utah until I drove it to Ohio 2 years ago so no rust anywhere! The body has never had any damage, paint is original and in excellent condition. There are two very small door dings on the passenger side door and one on the right rear fender that are so small I couldn't even get them to show up in a photo! According to my nephew, who owns a Dent Wizard franchise, those will take about 15 minutes each to totally repair. All glass is original and in perfect condition with no cracks, pitting, scratches, etc. The car has never been smoked in and the leather interior is in excellent shape with very little if any wear, no tears or scuffs, and no color fading. The carpets are in good shape with little wear, The sun roof works properly (a plus for this year and model car!) and all seals and gaskets are in near new condition. Each of the little triangular trim pieces on the doors that cover access to the back of the rear view mirrors are cracked (common for this series RX7) but the cracks are not noticeable. If it bothers you new ones on E-bay tend to go for about $15 each. The dash has no cracks and is in perfect condition (my dad had one of those carpet dash protectors that were popular in the 80's on it to keep the sun from damaging the dash; I still have it and it will come with the car (I took it off because I didn't like it!). All other trim pieces are in good condition. My dad also had a Mazda Finishline front mask/bra that is in perfect condition, and that also will come with the car. I have the original owner's manuals, window sticker from Carson City Toyato BMW-Mazda with the selling price of $20,316.95, the new car odometer mileage statement and "dealer's report of sale." The only document that I don't have is the window sticker from Mazda (the one I have is the dealer one with the additional "dealer mark-up" ($1499.00). Just a little bit of history or nostalgia with the car! Like I said, my father babied this car all his life and it shows. When I picked it up in Utah and drove it to Ohio with my 83 year old mother onboard (actually we had a great time!), it ran perfectly cruising at 80 mph with about 26 mpg all the way. Since I've had the car it's been garaged and I've only driven it occasionally on good weather days, and never in the snow and/or ice or on salted roads! Performance and handling are impeccable and really what driving a rotary engine sports is all about! It is ready to drive anywhere with the same comfort and performance that it had when my father drove it off the showroom floor! This car is also for sale locally so I reserve teh right to end the auction early if I find a buyer here. $500 deposit due within 48 hours of the auction ending, with full payment due within 7 days. Buyer is responsible for any and all shipping arrangements and costs, (though local pick up is always an option (Dayton, Ohio).
