Here is a 1998 Ford Explorer thaty was a former fire department vehicle. Mostlky driven by administrators this 4 wheel drive SUV was maintained every 3000 miles and has only 97,112 miles, yes- 97,112 miles. The exterior still has residue to the letters and graphics of the fire department but overall the body is in pretty good shape considering it is a '98. It may have the occasional scratch, small dent and hole in the roof for the emergency equipment. The 6 cylinder engine runs strong and will start when boosted. (Needs a battery) The transmission does slip in reverese and drive, but I have driven it around the parking lot and it does drive and 4wheel drive works good too. Tires are ok and the rims are aluminum factory wheels. The interior needs a really good cleaning. The console was cut up from the emergency radio and light controls. I beleive these parts can be ordered by a dealer to replace what has been cut. Once cleaned this interior will be in really good condition however there is a small discolored place on the console lid, and maybe small holes from where fire equipment was mounted.
