I purchased this bike from my 52 year-old sister, who had purchased it new or nearly new. She had ridden it on and off and had 2,000 miles on it. The Michelins are about 3 years old, so are not air-cracked. I found some rust in the gas tank, so installed a fuel filter between the tank and carbs, which I cleaned. I have used it to commute to work, and bought a good-quality windshield and some new mirrors. Last fall I bought a new battery and some fresh plugs. The bike has run great for me. I get around 55-60 mpg on country roads. Being 62, I have not pushed it too hard. It redlines at around 11,000 rpm; I've had it up to 6,000 max. The rust needs to be cleaned out of the tank and coated. It has what appears to be a small repair down at one corner, but it does not leak. There are some minor patches of rust on the wrap-around frame. In general it appears from the outside very good for a '92. Mechanically, it is excellent. The six-speed transmission is perfect for mountain roads and the engine seems to run well at all speeds. I've started it several times this winter. A couple of weeks ago, I was riding it and it bogged down, possibly due to the old gas in the tank (it needs premium) or a piece of rust in the gas tank petcock. I tried to get it started but got nothing but some sputters. IT IS SOLD WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT THE NEW OWNER NEEDS TO CLEAN THE TANK AND GET IT STARTED. I have some problems with arthritis these days, and am somewhat beyond the biking urge. The purchaser would need to pay within 5 days of winning the bike. I would prefer Paypal, but bidders may contact me to make arrangements. The bike would need to be picked up from my house. I am 42 miles from Staunton, Virginia and 32 miles from Lexington, Virginia, and am about 15 miles from I-64 and 28 miles from I-81. I would be happy to work with the buyer on times to pick it up.
