Vehicle Detail
This is a 1949-1950 Packard HENNEY Ambulance - It is a Custom Series (top of the line) vehicle. It is manual transmission - rare. It is a totally untouched commercial vehicle. The good news is that this is a very restorable vehicle and Rare, Rare, and RARE as all get out - these Custom LWB series vehicles make for an impressive display. The bad news is that it will require sill and floor work adjacent to three rear doors (the rubber mats in the door sill area are prone on these 48-50 Packards to collect water under them and cause rot. And, due to being stored outside at some point (we have had it stored inside for 10 years now and only out it ouside in April) the plywood rear decking has been damaged and will need replacement - please consider this hearse a candidate for total restoration. Original 1949 and 1950 brochures can be found at www.packardinfo.com . http://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/article/view.article.php?389 All trim and fittings seem to be inside. It has metal cabinetry that is complete (door was open on the left lower cabinet). It is a relatively complete vehicle as seen in the pictures. I do have the Henney license plate light for the rear door (lens is missing). It rides on 4 rare 16" wheels, though is missing the spare tire. Hubcaps are there but not nice The glass has great graphics. The door glass is down. The mileage is unknown (sorry I forgot to look but my guess is that it is not real high as they mostly never are). Engine is the 160 HP custom Series engine as supplied in all Henneys - also note Custom Series grill. Vehicle was last run about 10 years ago (and may be capable of running again with minimal work). Sorry about the pictures - it is between a group of other cars. This vehicle has been stored inside until April 2010 and needs to be sold as it will get ruined if it sits outside. I may have a title but I doubt it so car will be sold with a bill of sale and if title shows itself then please consider that a bonus. Basically this vehicle also has all the manual transmission parts to elliminate your slushamatic - manual transmissions in 1948-1954 are very rare. Vehicle is in North Dayton, Ohio. Vehicle should be removed promptly as it is at risk for vandalism through fencing. We have M-F 12-5 and S-S 1-5 business hours so this should be convenient to Pick-Up, plus we have some flexibility on setting appointment hours as well. We are not available on Sunday the 13th. Please e-mail questions. On Jun-08-10 at 13:46:49 PDT, seller added the following information: I will try to get some more photos posted in next day. That should solve some of the questions, but please continue to ask as some times hard to get them loaded in existing auctions. On Jun-09-10 at 00:06:19 PDT, seller added the following information: The mileage is 67,565. I added engine pictures. It appears to be proper Custom engine. I added floor pictures. Floor issues appear to also be in front - sorry I had not asked the fellow to look that closely when he took the first photos (and he focused more on the rear floors than the front). This is a big car 22 ft length. On Jun-10-10 at 14:01:39 PDT, seller added the following information: To answer three near identical questions from potential bidders: This vehicle needs totally restored. The benefit though is that it is basically untouched so you will get to be the first one there - not a jigsaw puzzle. The ultimate benefit is that this vehicle is the "hens teeth" you seek. 1195 views and 50 watchers w/3 days to go.On Jun-12-10 at 00:04:25 PDT, seller added the following information: LATE BREAKING NEWS: I am told we have the title in our files.
