Vehicle Detail
Im selling a 1992 GMC Typhoon.. I have owned this typhoon for the last 9 years. I have enjoyed it but never got around to building it the way i wanted. I'm currently selling it to make room and finish other projects. The following is discreption of the typhoon for those who dont know about this rare car. The GMC Typhoon was a truck manufactured by General Motors, the American automobile major, in 1992 and 1993 (only four were manufactured in 1991). It was built along the lines of the 1991 GMC Syclone pickup truck, but had the bodystyle of the GMC Jimmy SUV. The GMC Typhoon was built by Production Automotive Services of Troy, Michigan, for General Motor Cars (GMC). A total of 2497 Typhoons were manufactured in 1992, and 2200 in 1993. Production was later discontinued. The Typhoon truck seated five people, and came in many colors, including Apple Red, Royal Blue, Forest Green, White, Black, and Teal Green. The GMC Typhoon truck had a Mitsubishi TD06-17C/8cm2 turbocharger and Garrett Water/Air intercooler attached to a 4.3 L LB4 V6 engine. The curb weight for the Typhoon was around 3800 pounds. The Typhoon truck had a 700R4 (4L60) 4-speed automatic transmission and a BorgWarner 1372/4472 transfer case splitting torque with 35% forward and 65% to the rear wheels. The truck featured all-wheel drive, upgraded brakes, and sport modifications to the standard suspensions. Output was officially 280 hp (209 kW) and 360 ft lbf (488 N m), but some stock Typhoons have been measured at over 300 hp (224 kW) on a dynamometer. The typhoon is for sale locally and maybe be pulled at any time. This was my daily driver for the last 6 years. The typhoon still pulls strong all the way to 15psi stock. The interior leather has no tears and looks good in the front and excellent in the rear. I currently have to many toys and need to sell this one to finish the others. The reserve is set low for a quick sell. I have the title in hand.. The Autocheck is showing an accident in 1/21/2003. It was a hit and run .. Only the stock wheels were damaged. The wheels at the time were sold bent. I bought a set of BBS RGR as a replacement. Send me an email if you have any questions .. The following items have been upgraded. Turbo XS Blow of valve Kenny Bell Air filter Rebuilt trans - Less then 1000 miles. BBS RGR Wheels 17x8 with 245 tires KYB shocks in the rear Lowered front and rear- handles like its on rails New brakes up front New NGK V power plugs New Serpentine Belt Mobile 1 oil New Radiator New Distributer New AC Delco Rotor New Ignition wires The following are thing that should be looked at. Wheel bearings need to be replaced Abs light is on but abs works.. This is a norm as I have read for typhoon owners Cladding left and right rear corner claddings are cracked. A body shop should be able to plastic weld them. Paint is faded Black .. Windows tracks need to be tightened
