Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my '91 Civic Wagon with 5 speed transmission, the original economical SUV. I am the second owner. Has been my daily driver for last 6 years. Bought a newer car and don't want to keep two. Local South Carolina car; purchased at Dick Brooks Honda is Spartanburg, SC by the original owners and has spent its entire life in SC hauling people, canoes and kayaks, and bicycles. Runs the same today as six years ago but is not perfect. I will try to list everything I can think of that you should know but feel free to contact me to ask any more specific quesitons: This is the Front Wheel Drive version with the 1.5 Liter D15B2 Engine. ** The timing belt was changed once @ 90,000 miles so it is due for service should you decide to. ** Car starts smartly, idles smoothly, runs and drives down the road straight with no engine or tranny noises. Original A/C blows cold and in the winter it provides heat quickly (sign of properly working thermostat). * Has some minor body damage to the tailgate (liftgate) and rear bumper. The right side back-up light was broken in the process and does not work; hopefully you can see it in the photos. The tailgate otherwise opens and closes fine (I replaced the support struts with new ones). Other than the liftgate damage has some small dings here and there but nothing major. Paint is still shiny. Interior is pretty good. All seat cushions and fabric are in good shape with exception of the driver's seat which has a tear from entering/exiting the car; see photo. I keep a seat cover over it. Otherwise the cloth is in decent shape but has some dirt stains from previous owner. Carpet and mats are decent, for its age. Headliner is in good shape, no major tears. The HL in this car is not cloth, but rigid plastic. Dash is perfect with no cracking. Original digital clock keeps perfect time. Back seats normally fold down flat but the little knobs recently broke. Plenty of storage in rear area too. This car has always used oil in between changes, but does not leak oil and does not generally smoke. Only in cooler weather upon startup have I noticed a few puffs of blue smoke, then it's gone. Recent repairs include: Spark Plug WiresCV bootsMaster Cylinder (10k miles ago)Front Brake pads (12k miles)A/C & Alternator Belts (12k miles)ignition wiring harness and Main Relay (13k miles)O2 SensorValve Cover gasketNew Radiator (in 2006, 27k miles)Vehicle Has a 2" Reese Hitch welded to body; used for bicycle rack. (* Not recommended for towing trailer) This car runs and drives great, has cold a/c and fairly new Kuhmo Solus Tires. Terms are: $100 payment via paypal within 24 hours and balance in cash upon Pickup in Greenville, SC within 7 days. On Jun-03-10 at 08:01:21 PDT, seller added the following information: *** Regarding picture of welded door jam: Photo is of the driver's side door "retainer". For whatever reason the 'retainer' pulled away from the body but it was NOT due to rust. I have had it welded 2 times by a welding shop and the last weld, while not pretty to look at, seems to be holding well. It may need re-welded in the future, but if one is careful when opening the door it should last quite a while. *** Also, I have not noticed any leaking thru the liftgate or any other part of the car. *** There are some small surface rust areas from where the prev. owner used a gutter mount roof rack to carry Kayaks. It is noticeable only when you open the doors. The state of the rust has not changed in the last 6 years. *** Remembering small quirks: The REAR Windshield washer (Fluid) does not work. However, the rear window electric defroster/defogger works great - clears rear window of ice and fog very well. Also, the rear Wiper works very well. One thing I always loved about this car is its great visibility. Note: There is NO passenger side view mirror. There never was one on this car. Note: The rare and special "Honda" rims. Note: The car has a high-flow, clean-able, re-use-able K&N Air Filter On Jun-03-10 at 10:36:51 PDT, seller added the following information: ** The "rust" I mentioned above in the door jams/roof gutter is actually more like "scratches" than rust, and is primarily on the driver's side front door. Very little to none in the other 3 door jams/roof gutters. Overall, it's insignificant. On Jun-03-10 at 13:40:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Watch the Tach & Instruments while the engine is started; see the smooth idle, listen to the engine, and look at the tailpipe while car is running: Three Videos Here: http://www.youtube.com/user/zurich59 On Jun-04-10 at 10:44:55 PDT, seller added the following information: The clutch has given no indications of any problems since I have owned it (6 years & approx. 50k miles). There is no slippage in any gear. On a recent trip to Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia, the clutch handled the 20% max. gradient (albeit in first gear!) with no problem. Decent was same, engine-braked in first gear kept me under control with no slippage or popping out of gear. On Jun-07-10 at 12:59:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Update on Seat Backs and seat back Knobs: I was able to get the rear seat backs down and also was able to get the previously broken off Knobs screwed back on - although I do not know how long they will last. ** I HAVE ORDERED NEW KNOBS from Honda but they will not be in until next week. I will mail the new knobs to the winner of the auction. In the mean time, I suggest leaving the seatbacks in the down position - which is how I kept them 90% of the time -- in my "SUV" mode! Here are some updated photos with the seats down: There's a ton of space back there for hauling STUFF- wood, bags of mulch or fertilizer, whatever! Tnx for looking. http://www.flickr.com/photos/50908186@N02/ On Jun-07-10 at 13:09:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Should you live in the Ohio Valley area or the Mid-Atlantic States I can deliver the car this coming weekend (Sat-Monday) along one of 3 routes from Greenville, SC to Cleveland, OH: 1) Greenville, Knoxville, Lexington KY, Cincinnatti, Columbus, via I-40 to I-75 to I-71 or, 2) Greenville, Asheville NC, Johnson City TN, Charleston WV, Akron, Cleveland OH via I-81 & I-77 North. or 3) Greenville, Charlotte, Chas WV, Akron, Cleveland via I-77 North.
