Vehicle Detail
Hi, Up for grabs is my 1970 Mercury Cyclone Project Special! I have several Cyclones, and I really need to let somebody else have a shot at a few of them. I have so many other projects that it is not right to let this one just sit around until I get to it. It might not happen. This Cyclone does not have the motor or tranny. But it does have a fair and fixable body, and many , many good parts. Here are the options it came with: 351C4bbl C6 Automatic transmission Front disc brakes Power steering. Air conditioning Vinyl Roof The good: This is a very restorable car, but of course it will need work. It is from the Tennessee area, so the rust is not the totally destructive Salt Rust that you get up North. Other than a few spots I will show you, the body is very workable. The interior is in Very good shape for this car. It does not have a carpet or headliner, but the seats are great, and the door panels, etc. Are exceptionally good. Bumpers are good, all glass is good. The hood is in good shape. The rear tailight assembly is also very good. I have included two good sport mirrors as well. The bad: The rear quarter panels need to be replaced. There is one spot in the floor pan by the front seat that will need to be fixed. (see Pics) But other than that, the floor is really pretty good. The left front fender has a skin of body filler that has begun to come off. It looks alot worse than it is. The fender and door had some small "ripples" that someone filled in with a thin skin of filler. they are in basically good fixable shape, or you can replace them. I do have some fenders and doors that I can sell you for extra if you want. The right side front fender has a rust hole down behind the wheel. I have a previously damaged GT fender that is perfect in this area, and I'll throw it in. It will be easy to cut and weld the spot from the good fender. The front hidden headlight assembly is not very good. On most of these cars, these parts are broken. This one has some good parts and some broken ones. The center core is great, but you'll need to find some of the other grille assembly parts. Basically, I just hope that someone will try to restore this car. I love Cyclones. But I can't stop you if you want to part it out. There are literally thousands of dollars worth of good parts here, if that's the way you want to go with it. In Georgia you don't need a title for a car this old. Business can be done with the vehicle registration and Bill of sale. If your state requires a title, there is a set of simple rules to follow to get this car titled in your state. This car is in my name, but has no official title per se. But as I said, there are ways to take care of that in your state. Ask me any questions that you might have, and I'll be glad to tell whatever you need to know, or take more pictures. Good luck! The reserve is very reasonable, so go for it! Thanks, Tom
