Vehicle Detail
This is a very original 1969 MGB GT with original overdrive transmission. As far as I know the car has never been restored, but may have been painted at one time. I purchased the car from a person in Maryland, who had previously purchased the car from someone in California. The car at that time when in california was a "black plate" california car. I still have the black plates that came with the car. My original intent was to fix the car up and drive it, but around the same time I ended up getting a convertible MG project, and lost interest in this car. The car is very original, and has all the items specific to the 1969 model year such as, passenger side fender mirror, side body reflectors and interior leather seating surfaces that are unique to 1969. When I purchased the car it had the original smog equipment. While getting ready to sell the car for this listing, I removed the smog equipment (I still have all the parts), dropped the gas tank and flushed out all the old gas, rebuilt the carbs with new throttle shafts and bushings, and put new rubber in the clutch slave cylinder. The car will start and run, as well as the clutch and the brakes work, and is driveable, but I have not driven the car on the road for over three years, so the new owner should arrange transportation of the vehicle. So, the car needs to be gone through to make it road safe, ie. thouroughly check brakes, clutch, engine, new tires and other mechanicals. I do not know if the engine has ever been rebuilt, but like I said it does start and run although the choke needs adjusting and the lifters need adjusting. Also, the last time I drove the car on the road, the overdrive transmission worked correctly, that is, I was able to shift into overdrive when in 3rd or 4th gear. I do not know the actual mileage of the car, and have listed what is shown on the odometer. Cosmetically, there is some rust here and there and it is showing its age, but the floors and rockers seem to be very solid, probably since it spent most of its life in California. To be nice it needs to be restored comsetically and mechanically. The pictures should speak for themselves, but please feel free to ask any questions, and I will do my best to answer them. A couple comsetic issues to note, that may not be completely evident from the pictures are: Windshield has some scratches, the chrome trim around windshield in one area is beat up, there is some rust showing through on top of the rear fenders, evidently from previous repair, some bubbling on door skins and near the door, and front valence is dented. Please look closely at pictures to see.
