Vehicle Detail
Offered for sale is a rare 1968 corvette convertible it retains its original 427 IL 390 HP motor and original 4 speed Muncie transmission. New flywheel sand starter this week. Recently had all new rotors and calipers as well as some of the lines. Brakes work good and motor runs very smooth. INcluded in the pictures are all the numbers of the engine and transmission as well as casting numbers on the rear of the block. Its not often one comes to find one in this condition as far as the frame goes its very solid in part because this was garaged for almost 30 years. There is allot of confusion about this car some people are unaware of this sort of corvette history. The Mako Shark II replica was designed by John Silva of Ipswich, MA. Starting in 71, it was marketed with the name Maco jointly with Joel Rosen of Motion Performance (of Baldwin/Motion fame) Baldwin, NY. John Silva patented this mold, there are told to be 20 some corvette roadsters made. Silva was also the Brain behind the design of the Dodge Viper. These cars were also numbered, this one is numbered under the trim tag which is pictured. Corvette and classics in Taunton appraises these cars around 90,000 finished but lack of money to get there forbids me to do it. Its also not very often to find a 68 vette with all of its original numbers matching drivetrain retained so you can be sure you are buying an original piece that is WORTH finishing instead of trying to find "period correct" motors plus this is a true big block vette. I am missing the passenger seat what is pictured is what to expect sold as is where is no warranty. Feel free to come by for an inspection. Do your research and call a few corvette places either way you cant go wrong with a 427 Vette.
