Vehicle Detail
I have a 1986 Honda Civic CRX Si. Between my Wife and I we have owed this car since 1998. It was bought for her by her parents as her first car in Indianapolis. It has been an all around wonderful car as all Honda's are! It is a 5 speed manual transmission. It only has 2 seats plus hatch space. It has just under 150,000 miles on it. It has very good tires plus a full size spare. The tires sit on "Ultra" custom aluminum wheels (Spare is an original rim). The wheels and the hatch back are the only two things that have been changed from original (still have original Hatch Back, though you'd have to swap the rear glass around). I drive this car on a regular basis 30 miles to work and 30 miles back home on most days of the week. It gets 30 plus MPG and could be more with some tweaks to the right parts. It is fuel injected. I'm sure you want to hear the flaws a 25 year old car has so here is the list as best you'll find: Needs a new Moon Roof, I have Plexiglas glued in now with silicone and Great Stuff foam to keep out the rain. Original rusted off at slides. Motors and slides are still good, just needs new top. Not pretty but it works. CV axles click when you turn, may need some grease and new boots, maybe easier to replace them. The Engine "Hunts"(revs up and down) at idle. I believe this is due to a faulty EGR valve. It has done this for years and has never effected driving the car, or starting the car so it's never been fixed. Does set off the Check engine light though. If it were fixed it would save even more gas though!!. I have replaced the clutch in this car 3 times, once in 1999 when I tried to get to work in 6 inches of snow and burnt it off be for getting 2 blocks. Then again in 2007 for normal wear but the new one didn't seem to have very good grab at higher RPM's so I replaced it again a month later through warranty along with the fly wheel but the clutch is still the same. I guess I should have spent more and got a nicer one. The clutch works fine unless you really try and get on it in the higher gears, then it sometimes slips a little so I'm sorry but you can't drive it like a race car with out a racing clutch!! It really could use new shocks/struts The passenger side door lock and hatch lock have been damaged due to a break in attempt. Can't unlock passenger door with key, but door does lock. The hatch lock will need adjusted or something because it stays in the unlock position with out playing with it a little. The right rear quarter panel has very light surface rust spots. There is a rust hole behind passenger seat in floor board where moon roof leaked. There is a small rust hole in rear of spare tire well. There are small hail dings that can be seen at the right angle with the right light across the top and hood of the car. Front facing has cracks near both head lights. Rear bumper is a little deformed where my wife started the car in reverse without holding in the clutch in. The car was parked in the Hospital parking garage and the concrete wall rear ended her to hear her tell it! The windshield has a crack in it. The exhaust has been pieced together with extra parts of various cars from the converter back, including a cherry bomb, flex pipe and a muffler from a Chevy venture van, but surprisingly sounds pretty good. Heres a list of things that I have replaced over the past 3 years at some point: Starter, Alternator, Clutch, Fly Wheel, Injectors, Computer (ECU/ECM), Brakes front and back plus rear wheel cylinders and drums, distributor (used), Tires, spark plugs and wires, battery Please ask any and all questions up front if you have a serious interest. I will not take less than $1000.00
