Vehicle Detail
This classic 1986 Toyota 4Runner has lots of potential as restoration project or trail rig. I had hoped to do the second when I got it from a close friend earlier this year. I have finally decided that I don't have the time or resources, maybe you do! I have had a couple of Jeeps and was thinking it was time to try a 4Runner. I will do my best to walk you through the condition of this vehicle, please email with questions if I forget an area. Exterior: This car was originally from Kentucky and has only spent less then 1 year in Michigan. It has a few rust spots over the front wheel wells and then a few random other spots around the car. The worst spot I have found is a whole in the rocker in front of the left rear tire. It is not visible unless you look under the body. This 4Runner is very solid for being 24 years old! I have seen no major rot on frame or suspension parts. The paint is in fairly good condition, with no peeling or loss of clear coat. There are a few scratches here and there. The rear bumper is an aftermarket tubular style and has some significant rust on the right side. All visible rust spots have been treated with rust destroying primer. The sunroof was lost earlier this year as it was not known by the driver that it could fly out if not opened properly. A piece of plexiglass as been cut and sealed in it's place. The tires are in good condition with lots of wear left on them. Interior: Over all the interior is in good shape with only a few rips in the drivers seat. Seat covers are included with the vehicle. The power rear window works but the lock on the rear door seems to be stuck, I have not worked hard to unlatch it though. The dashboard is in good shape and it has an aftermarket Alpine deck. Drivetrain: The automatic transmission and 4 wheel drive system work great. I have not seen any major leaks from any driveline components. There is a leak from the power steering. The engine began to run poorly last fall. I recently spent sometime trying to diagnose it but have not fully fixed it. It was running rough, on three cylinders so I performed a compression test, which looked great, around 160-180psi for all cylinders. The I replaced the spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil. Still no number 4 cylinder. Turns out the fuel injector had come disconnected. After connecting it and replacing the fuel filter it runs better but still not smooth. Occasionally it will smooth out which leads me to believe it is a clogged fuel injector, maybe the injector that was disconnected for a while. Bottom line I think this motor still has lots of life left. It is drivable but lacks power to drive at highway speeds. It has a new battery but does seem to have a slow parasitic drain on the system. It is fine if you for a few weeks but much after that and you will want to keep a trickle charge on the battery or it will go dead. Winning bidder will pay $200.00 via paypal upon auction completion and the balance in cash or cashiers check, upon pick up. This vehicle is for pick up only. The vehicle is sold as-is with no warranty. I want you to be happy with this purchase so please ask any further questions. After viewing the Experian AutoCheck report for my 4Runner I am a surprised it is so low. I do have a free and clear title for the truck and can have the previous owner here for the pick up of the vehicle as he is a good friend and lives a few blocks away.
