Vehicle Detail

Rare 1968 Chevy II Nova Super Sport This is a very rare 1968 Chevy II Nova Super Sport. As far as we can tell, this car is the real deal Super Sport Big Block. This car came out new with a 396ci big block, 12 bolt rear-end, power steering, 14x7 SS rally wheels. Take a look at the heater box on the fire wall for proof that this car is a real big block! But let’s face it, 42 years has past and did anyone really know what they had when these cars were being raced and parted out over the decades? Alas, in past 42 years this car has also had a few changes. The specs on this car are currently: MECHANICS · 350ci V-8 with a mild cam · 350 Turbo Automatic Transmission · 650 Holley Carburetor · Electric Choke · Performer RPM Aluminum Intake · Chrome Valve Covers and Air Cleaner · 10 bolt rear-end · New 2 inch aluminum exhaust with Turbo Mufflers · New Gas Tank I am super impressed with how strong this Chevy II runs and drives. I have a blast cruising around town in this sleek silver gem! I have been told that less than 50 big block SS Chevy II Nova were made in 68! EXTERIOR · New cortez silver base/coat clear/coat paint · Original Bowtie Mirrors on Left and Right · Original Grill · All correct Chevy II Nova Super Sport Badging (very hard to find!) · Factory 14x7 Super Sport Wheels I noticed while replacing the exhaust that there were a few small repair patch panels in the floor pan and at the rear of the trunk pan. There are no holes in this car! The paint is slick and straight on this car. You could read your watch in the shine! INTERIOR · New black seat covers · New front door panels · New set of 225/70x14 Mastercraft white letter tires · Nice black carpet · I had the headliner tightened and it is in great condition with no rips · This car also has a nice PIONEER AM-FM-CD Stereo with Remote I am including some history on the 1968 Chevy II Nova that I found on the web. It finally joined the big boys with a standard 350 V8 with 295 bhp and the addition of the mighty Chevrolet 396 V8 big block. Standard in the Nova SS 396 was a 350 bhp while optional was a brutish 375 bhp which could propel the light Nova to a 13.85 second 1/4 mile at 104 mph. The 396 V8 with 375 bhp featured 11:1 compression, a big Holley four-barrel on an aluminum intake, free-breathing heads, and solid lifters. Top speed was estimated at 121 mph. The SS 396 featured a favorable 45% of its weight on the rear axle, a favorable weight balance few muscle cars could match. The SS package added SS badges, black-accented grille and tail, and simulated hood air intakes. The SS was listed as just an option package from 1968 on, instead of a separate trim level like before. The following are unique to the 1969 Chevy II Nova: · Hood emblem (CHEVY II) · Super Sport emblems (Mounted on front fenders) · Sub-frame (Bump stop mounts) · Blower motor ( slightly different sytle) · Heater controls (Located on drivers side, horizontal movement) · Heater control cables are different · mud or dust skirts ( run along sde of rocker panel) · headlight bezels (no adjustment screw holes) · A-Arms bumper (later years press in) · Steering column (No key or lock in column) · Steering column mount bracket · Steering column gasket · A-piller pads (thicker that later years) · dash pad (Shaped different) · dash pad emblem (Chevy II or Nova SS) · doors (locks are at the rear) · door glass regulators (window cranks are moved forward about 1/2 inch) · door panel (lock and window crank holes different) · dash panel (key in the dash) · cigarette lighter (matches radio knobs) · Headlight switch (matches radio knobs) · Ash tray (smaller and no lighter inside) · glove box door (Smaller) · glove box (same as a 67) · kick panels · radio (Larger and has different mounting style) · radio mounting brackets · trunk emblem (CHEVY II By Chevrolet) · steering wheel (Mount is different) · clutch/brake pedal mount (Shaped different) · Quarter panels (inside jam has Telephone handset shape) · Nova emblem on rear quarter · Ignition key is octagon shaped · Door keys were round · Throttle linkage (later years were cable) · Door panel emblems (Look like the 66/67 , but they say Nova) · Seats have a special emblem on them in the center · Front parking lights go out when headlights come on · 68 Parking brake is one year only. · 68 Bucket seats are one year only. · 68 Bench seat is one year only. · 68 Bucket seat mounts are one year only · 68 SS with drums used finned drums · 68 SS with discs used 4 piston calipers · 68 trunk floor is different · 68 does not have tank vent in trunk · 68 trunk lid underside is different depending on month built · 68 has no return fuel line · 68 antenna is one year only · First year for BBC in a Nova and the last year for a 327. · 68 was available with L30 and L79 327's · 68 was first year Nova to get TH400's · 68 was first year nova for 350 engine · 68 BBC frame mounts are one year only BIDDING I hate to be hard nosed, but this isn’t my first rodeo on EBay. On Apr-27-10 at 19:58:27 PDT, seller added the following information: I AM GETTING ALOT OF E-MAILS ABOUT THIS 68 CHEVY II NOVA BEING A REAL BIG BLOCK CAR AND EVEN A REAL SUPER SPORT CAR SO HERE WE GO !!!!!!!!!!!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE $%^& IT IS BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A BUILD SHEET ON THE CAR. ALL THAT I KNOW ABOUT THE CAR IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD AND WHAT I CAN SEE THAT MAKES IT LOOK LIKE A BIG BLOCK SUPER SPORT CAR, SUCH AS - THE HEATER BOX IS CORRECT FOR A BIG BLOCK, IT HAS BIG BLOCK SPRINGS IN THE FRONT, IT HAD MULTI-LEAF SPRINGS WITH A 12 BOLT REAR-END - WHICH IS A SIGN OF A BIG BLOCK - IT HAS ALL THE RIGHT SUPER SPORT BADGES SO I AM TOLD RIGHT DOWN TO THE DASH PAD. THE GUY I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM CONFIRMED THAT HE KNEW THE CAR WHEN IT HAD THE ORIGINAL BIG BLOCK IN IT AND THAT HE KNEW THE GUY THAT TOOK THE BIG BLOCK OUT AND PUT IT IN A RACE CAR. I KNOW THE PERSON WHO TOOK THE TWELVE BOLT OUT OF IT AND CAN PERSONALLY CONFIRM IT DID HAVE A CORRECT TWELVE BOLT. NOW I KNOW THAT ALL THESE THINGS CAN BE CHANGED AND THE CAR IS 42 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE NOT KNOWN THIS CAR ALL OF THE 42 YEARS SO AGAIN I DO NOT HAVE FOR SURE DOCUMENTATION AS TO WHAT IT IS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM ONLY TELLING YOU WHAT I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PEOPLE TELL ME WHO HAVE VISUALLY INSPECTED THIS CAR IN PERSON AND WHAT I SEE ON THE CAR. AGAIN YOU ARE WELCOME TO COME AND LOOK IT OVER AND CHECK IT OUT BEFORE YOU BUY IT OR EVEN BID ON IT. A SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL OF YOU ARM CHAIR JOCKEYS FOR THE INFO AND NOT EVEN BIDDING - BUT LETTING ME KNOW HOW YOU ALL FEEL ABOUT MY CAR. I DON'T HAVE TO SELL THIS CAR AND THE BANK IS NOT READY TO REPO IT - I DON'T OWE ANYBODY A DIME ON THIS CAR. WHY NOT GO PICK ON THE 100'S OF FIRST GENRATION CAMAROS OR C3 VETTES THAT ARE LISTED ON EBAY AND DEMAND THEIR BUILD SHEETS. I ENJOY DRIVING THIS CAR AND I DON'T HAVE TO SELL, I AM JUST OFFERING TO CUT LOOSE ONE OF MY TOYS FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO ENJOY. I DO WANT TO SINCERELY THANK ANY AND ALL BIDDERS ON THIS CAR AND YOUR INTEREST IN IT. IF YOU HAVE BID ON THE CAR AND WISH TO RETRACT YOUR BID, THAT IS NOT A PROBLEM, BUT I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT I HAVE DISCLOSED ALL I KNOW AND ALL I HAVE BEEN TOLD ABOUT THE CHEVY II. IF YOU HAVE SERIOUS QUESTIONS RATHER THAN COMMENTARY ON WHAT YOU THINK THIS CAR IS OR IS NOT, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL ME OR EMAIL ME THROUGH EBAY. THANKS, Charlie.
