Vehicle Detail
Finding a rust free Studebaker is getting to be quite a task. Who knows the number of 1949 Champion two door sedans that are still are on the street , but I'll bet it is few. This one came here from Utah last year. It had been in a dry storage silo for the past thirty years - latest inspection sticker is 1976. It was not rodent invaded and has no foul smells. I hope the pictures will show you just how truly solid this car is . I don't know if I have ever seen another 1949 anything that didn't have the spare tire well rusted - no matter what stated it came from . Obviously , the motor is out of it and I am not sure why. There is a flathead motor with it that looks good and spins but I have no clue as to the condition. I do not have the transmission but the trunk is full of parts and I have the radiator, starter, generator and bell housing in my garage. All parts go with the car. It has some vintage J.C. Whitney type dress up items that someone apparently thought was cool in the 60's . It has a few small dents along the sides of the roof. The rest of the body is very straight and rust free. The interior , as shown, is still quite nice and the dash is near perfect . The guages are very clear and my guess is that the car was always garaged or at least parked in the shade. Keys and title are here. One nice little addition is that all the little complimentary items given by dealers in another time --along with the owners manual are still in the glove box .
