Vehicle Detail
All offers will be considered. I will respond to serious offers by either accepting them or by returning a counteroffer. I'm getting ready to head to Okinawa so would like to get the truck sold soon. Up for sale is a 2008 Ford F450 Lariat Crew Cab 4x4 Dually Long Bed. This truck has Ford’s 6.4 liter twin-turbocharged PowerStroke diesel engine with the 5-speed TorqShift automatic transmission with tow-haul mode and the 4.88 rear end. The vehicle has 67k miles on it and has been serviced at regular intervals as specified by Ford and Navistar. It has the balance of the 100k mile powertrain warranty remaining. The exterior color is gray with a tan leather interior. In addition to the standard power seats, windows, steering, and brakes, this truck has the DVD-based navigation system, power sliding rear window, moon roof, integrated trailer brake controller, 4 dash mounted auxiliary switches, instrument cluster control panel, reverse back-up sensors, heated seats with two position memory settings, adjustable foot pedals, electronically controlled 4x4, automatic headlamps, power folding/telescoping tow mirrors with convex lower mirror, 6-disc CD player, Sirius satellite radio, and Ford’s incredible sound system with sub-woofer that puts out great bass for a stock system. Notice the steering wheel controls that control the cruise control, audio system, and electronic climate control system. On the exterior, the truck has chrome tubular running boards, dual wheels, 19.5” rims, tailgate step and rail, and the 8 foot bed. The two front tires are brand new Continental HSR’s (the “S” is for steering axle or drive axle) and the four rear tires have about 80-95% of their tread left and are Continental HDR’s (the “D” is for drive axle only). It has a full size HSR spare as well. This truck is built to haul. It has a 4.88:1 rear end as noted on the data plate by the “8L”, and is rated to pull 24,000 pounds. The F450’s with a 4.30:1 rear end (shown as “4L” on data plate) are only rated to tow 20,000 pounds, so if you pull heavy trailers, you need the right truck with the 4.88 rear end. You can also visit the Trailer Life website to check out all the tow ratings, but make sure you’re looking for the correct engine, transmission, and rear axle ratio: http://www.trailerlife.com/images/digitaleditions/pdfs/DigitalTLTowGuide0801.pdf. The truck pulls extremely well and has plenty of power and great breaking with the tow-haul mode. It has plenty of low end torque and gets a load moving well from a stop. When empty, it does have a stiffer ride than an F250 or F350 because it is sprung so high. Now for the extras. You're getting over $3200 in accessories with this vehicle: - Edge digital gauges. Note, this is NOT a programmer, so the vehicle computer has not been altered and the warranty is intact. The digital gauges give critical information when towing such as EGT temps, engine temps, transmission temps, and turbo boost PSI (the Edge gauge is more accurate than the stock gauges in the dash). The unit is plugged into the vehicles OBD-II port and is housed in a custom made enclosure so it looks professionally installed. It also provides DTC information and allows you to clear codes. (originally $300 installed) - Reese 18K slider fifth wheel hitch. I used this hitch in my short box F250, then had it installed in my F450 when I bought a bigger trailer. You don’t need a slider in a long box truck, but I’ve found it to be handy when hooking up at a slight angle; the slider prevents the tailgate from hitting the trailer. The hitch rails are permanently installed, but the hitch can be easily removed by pulling the four pins that attach it to the rails. The box also has holes drilled for a gooseneck hitch (the previous owner used a gooseneck trailer). (originally $1100 installed) - Trailer wire connection in bed of truck. No need to drape the trailer wire cord over the tailgate. Plug it in to the receptacle in the bed of the truck. The wire harness that I had installed plugs into the rear receptacle on the truck instead of splicing into the existing wire harness. Splicing on these trucks causes a low voltage warning to go off. (originally $40 installed) - Line-X spray in bed liner. Enough said. Can’t beat Line-X. (originally $550) - Retrax rolltop bed cover. This bed cover is lockable and can be secured in any position from fully open to fully closed. (originally $1000 delivered and installed) - Kobalt tool chest. This tool chest has two sliding trays inside and has cylinder locks on either side of the chest. The cylinder locks are nice because only one of the two has to be unlocked for the chest to be opened. I always kept the passenger side lock secured, and simply unlocked the drivers side lock when I needed access to the chest. (originally $250) - BetterBuilt hitch step. Provides some protection from backing and is also a great step to get inside the box with the tailgate up. - Ford rubber floor mats. - Mud flaps on all wheel openings. The truck is in great running shape. Starts right up even on cold (-10F) mornings. It runs very smooth going down the road, but like I said it has a stiff ride especially when empty. One great thing about the F450’s versus the dually F350’s is the F450’s have a shorter turning radius; they have a wider front axle which allows the tires to be turned sharper. This is very handy getting in and out of tight parking spaces. There are some blemishes on the truck. I have taken pictures of all the scratches and blemishes, so please look closely. I have pointed to most of them in the pictures. Note that the rear bumper is pushed in and down slightly; either the previous owner backed into something or he was bumped into from the rear. I have tried to describe this truck as best I can. Please look at all of the pictures and email me with any questions before bidding. I will not ship the truck, but will drop the truck off at a shipping center within 50 miles of Lansing, Kansas if you choose to have the truck shipped to you. The winning bidder is responsible for all shipping arrangements. If you’d like to fly in and pick up the truck, the nearest airport is Kansas City International (MCI) airport. I’d be happy to pick you up at the airport. The winning bidder must pay a $500 deposit within 24 hours of winning the truck, and pay the balance via certified funds to my bank within 7 calendar days. I HAVE 92 PICTURES THAT I CAN EMAIL TO YOU. Send me a private message with your email address and I'll email you all of the pictures. The original owner of the truck fell into bad times and his business went under, and the bank took the truck back because he couldn't afford it anymore. The truck had about 52,000 miles on it when I bought it last year, and the truck has been problem free to include a 5000 mile trip across the country with our RV. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
