Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1970 DATSUN 1600 convertible /Roadster/Fairlady. The VIN number on the plate is SPL31129403 (see picture). The color is an old faded blue with black usable interior. The body has some nicks, chips and scratches on the paint plus it has no front bumper. This is an Arizona car and it is 90% rust free, I did not remove any of the interior carpet or the trunk area of the car while looking for rust but I inspected the undercarriage and paid close attention to the sheet metal all the way around the areas where I will think rust will be and I did not see any evidence of rust at all. All the glass is in good condition except for the windshield that has a small BB gun impact damage on the right hand side of the windshield but nothing major and it can be easily repaired. The dash pad is the original and it has some cracks on it. The radio does not work and it might need to have all the electrical wires re-checked. The car has neither a convertible top nor the frame for it and I don’t have the hard top. This DATSUN has been in storage for a long time and since the previous owner could not find the original title, I had the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division do an mandatory inspection of the vehicle and a search for any previous registration in the US and after passing the inspection with high honors, the MVD issued me a bonded title that can be transferred to the buyer in any state upon the final pay is made. The DATSUN has a four cylinders engine with dual carburetors and it starts and runs with an impressive acceleration, plus the transmission (five speed-I think) and clutch are in good operational condition. I recently installed a new electronic ignition conversion kit and it really helped it on the performance. The engine might need a little adjustment since I only replaced the electronic ignition, rotor, dist. cap, plugs and wires but I did not wanted to mess with the carburetors or timing. One thing that requires serious attention are the brakes, it does not have working brakes, I have been using the hand brake for stopping while showing the car here locally but in a safe area. The speedometer shows 66,313 miles and I could not tell if these are the original miles. This 1970 DATSUN is in great great shape compared to others I have seen and is a GRAT PROJECT CAR. THIS CAR HAS A VERY/VERY BUT VERY LOW RESERVE and the winner will get this car AS IS and with no warrantees of any kind. Seller reserves the right to remove this ad at anytime. This item is also for sale locally. My little DATSUN must sell, I need the money ASAP and that is why I have a low reserve. Please e-mail me if you have any questions. I require a deposit of $500.00 within three days of the close of the auction (pay-pal) and the balance is due within 7 days of the close of the auction and must be in the form of cashiers check or bank wire. The buyer will be responsible for picking up/shipping the car. I MIGHT BE ABLE to help deliver this car in the Arizona area and within a reasonable distance of my home in Arizona (300 miles) if we communicate. On Apr-25-10 at 17:46:56 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: I just want to add that some of the interested parties asked me about the condition of the car under the fender wells, the rocker and kick panels and to be honest these areas on this car are 90+ rust free in all the areas. Another question asked was about the engine; this engine does not smoke or has any leaks or unusual noises, this is a good engine. Thank you
