Vehicle Detail
This is a 1985 Pontiac Fiero FM4 4 cyl with the 5 speed manual trans, Power window, power mirrors, sunroof. The previous owner had the motor rebuilt and then turned the odom back to zero. The odom now shows 29K miles which he advised his how much is on the engine now. He advised the vehicle had just over 100K miles when the engine was overhauled. What all was done on the engine during the rebuild I do not know. The previous owner was driving the vehicle back and forth to work until the battery caught fire and melted some of the wiring harness which was located right next to the battery. It looks to me that the neg and positive battery cables were rubbing together and had shorted out. Fire damage was minimal as it only melted part of the cover grille and melted the wiring harness junction box which was right next to the battery. I removed the damage wiring and sectioned in a replacement harness and junction box from another 85 Fiero parts car. I got the vehicle running again and the motor sound good. I drove it around the block and the tranny seemed to shift good. Brakes work. Vehicle was last licened in 08. The power windows work but need to be cleaned and lubed as they are sluggish. The previous owner started to remove the door panels as he was going to start parting it out and then decided to let it go. I have most of the wiring harness connected using good and expensive connectors that were melted on for a watertight seal. Still needs work connecting the rest of the wiring so the rear light will work. I traced and have some of them already done. I just do not have the time to mess with it anymore but I do not believe it will take much more work to make this a good driveable vehicle. I have the right headlamp assembly taken from the parks vehicle but have not installed it. The original assembly was taken out by the previous owner for another vehicle I believe. No headliner. This would be a great project car or parts vehicle. The battery tray area has some rust out from battery corrosion so it will need to metal work to make it nice and secure for the battery. Vehicle comes with out a battery so bring your own or I can supply one to get it loaded up on your trailer. Vehicle will start up and drive up onto your trailer with no problem. Right front tire has a very slow leak. Takes a couple of weeks to go flat. One could probably drive this vehicle home but would only have partial rear light. I am selling this in "As Is Where Is Condition" No guarnatees or warranty. View all of the photos and ask questions before bidding. I have a good clean title. I am planning on posting a U-Tube link with a short clip showing the engine running. Will try to get it later today. thanks On Apr-18-10 at 19:59:04 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is a Youtube link for a short clip on the engine while it is running. thanks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tfBw2NNNMc
