1955 Ford Thunderbird This auction brought to you by jt-rodder Up for auction is a 1955 Ford Thunderbird! The previous owner had started to restore it for his wife. He became ill so the little T-Bird went into storage (approximately 7 years ago). With his illness becoming worse, his wife decided to sell it. When I got it, I decided to drop the gas tank and clean it. Then I changed the oil and filter, and put in gas and a new battery. It fired right up! The previous owner had installed new exhaust and mufflers, new radiator hoses, new heater hoses and heater core, new front shocks, new gas line, new tires, interior and carpet in the trunk. The electrical has been converted to 12-volt. I rebuilt the master cylinder and the front wheel cylinders (the brake shoes looked new). The body seems very solid; there are no signs of rust. I have included pics of the body mounts and inner rocker panels. Both doors open and close easily. All the glass is good. His son said the car was painted before his dad’s illness, but the top didn’t get repainted (see pic). It has the hardtop only. The paint looks good for a driver, but is not show quality. All the chrome is there and is in good shape. All the emblems are there except the Ford crown emblem that goes above the flag emblem on the gas tank door. This car doesn’t have a radio or heater control for the dash. There was a heater control unit in the trunk that is from a 1957 Ford, which I’ve been told is the same. The speedometer is not hooked up; the cable is there but the gear is not. The odometer shows 000000 miles. I don't know if he had it rebuilt or changed it back to zero. When it was in storage, they had the title changed to non-highway so they wouldn’t have to keep paying for the tags and taxes. I have driven it around the farm. The motor runs good and the tranny shifts good. I don’t know much more about the engine and tranny (if they have been rebuilt or not). The tranny does drip a little fluid after sitting awhile. Although this is not a “restored” Thunderbird, a lot has been done. This T-Bird could be driven daily without much work! My reserve is very low for a beauty like this, in this kind of condition ... so please read the details on the payment info as your bid is a binding contract.
