This is a very nicely restored 1953 MG TD convertible. This car was restored in California in 1988. The restoration was performed by Paul Smith and bears a plate with the date of restoration and his name. I have the folder about 1.5 inches thick showing receipts for all parts and sheets outlining what was done. This was a professional restoration. The car has a four speed manual transmission, folding canvas soft top with side curtains, leather seats and chrome luggage rack.This car has a glossy finish. I am sure many of you looking at this vehicle know far more about MGs than I do. If you have a question I will do my best to get it answered. I got this car as a surprise birthday gift for my wife and has been garaged most of the time except for a frequent Sunday drive around the neighborhood. VEHICLE CONDITION This older restoration is in great shape. This was a frame off restoration. The paint is in very nice glossy condition. There is a small spot on the right rear fender that has a small dent and paint crack. This is the only real blemish I can find. The engine has many chrome covers and parts as you can see in the pictures. It starts quickly and runs great. The transmission shifts smoothly, the brakes function well(not power) and the handling is great. It is a wonderful car to drive especially when you consider it is 57 years old. The soft top is beige canvas and is in good condition with no tears. It comes complete with side curtains that snap in and store in the rear. The vehicle also has a crank start and yes crank is actually in the car. The chrome is in very nice condition and the leather seats are very nice with no tears. The car leaked a few drops of oil but that was from sitting in the garage so long through winter. This car has the MG series TD operations manual as well. On Apr-21-10 at 09:16:25 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE: All those interested in this car, the VIN # is TD 20820 which is a 1952 Year VIN. The car was most likely purchased at the end of 1952 and titled as a 53. The 2 wiper system, rectangular taillights, and 2-bow top are era 1952. Thanks to all those who helped identify the actual year of the car by educating me on the VIN # and years that were associated. All gauges do work i.e. tach, speedomoter, blinkers, lights and the low fuel light that glows green when you are down to 2.5 gallons of fuel left.
