Introduction:This One of a Kind 1987 Mercedes Benz 300SDL Turbo Diesel Sedan has had 1 owner, kept in a garage, 155k original miles, A/C that blows ice cold and hard enough from the center vents to blow your hair back. It's so cold and hard-blowing that I have to keep it on the low fan setting even on the hottest days. I will crank it up initially of course. Also it scored 96 out of a possible 100 on the Autocheck Report. That is the highest score I have ever seen for one of these cars. Up for consideration is a beautiful and very well cared for 1987 300SDL in Onyx Black with a black leather interior. The Mercedes-Benz W126 Chassis is the most successful Model of the S-Class line ever made, it is known for its stylish design, durability, safety, and luxurious appointments. These MB luxury diesels will run forever when properly maintained as this one has been. A 300SDL is a very hard find in this condition and black on black. A highly sought color scheme. This vehicle was recently purchased from the first owner with the intention of keeping it and driving it for a very long time. I have had quite a few of these MB diesels and this one was the keeper because of its excellent condition and maintenance. This is simply the best example of an MB diesel I have seen. It handles beautifully the german mechanic that inspected it, asked me to sell it to him both times he saw it. The car was just inspected by the diesel mechanic at our local german specialty auto shop. He put a new fan belt on. He is probably one of the best MB diesel mechanics in Southern California. He knows these diesels inside and out and still owns two of them himself. He went through the car and checked all systems and fixed what needed attention. After going through the car he mentioned the meticulous care the vehicle received and gave it a clean bill of health. Description/Options: Black over MB- Genuine Leather interior, W126 Chasis 300SDL (L-Long wheel base) 3.0 L, 6cyl inline Turbo charged Diesel OM 603 engine 148hp, 201 lb/ft Torque at the low 2400rpm! This is revolutionary upgrade from the old OM617. This engine has been re-designed with 6cyl for better balance and is more power efficient. One piece light weight aluminum head, Hydraulic valve lifters. NOTE: (doesn’t require valve adjustment every 15K like the old OM617). Air mass flow meter has been added for more of a precise air and fuel mixture to promote longer lasting fuel for economic reasons ( the result is quite impressive). Standard feature drivers Air Bag added, cabin air circulation option, Note: (this is very nice option to avoid traffic polluted air from outside). Two-way adjustable sunroof, independent electric air pump for door locks ( No more air leaking) with fully Adjustable Drivers-Passenger seat with 2 position memory option. Includes improved ventilated brakes disc, Rear seat head rest, Head lights wipers are new, Improved exterior and interior quality. Has adjustable seat belt heights and a quicker steering ratio. Exterior: Black. Paint condition is very good with minor imperfections which I highlighted in the pix. There are pebble marks around the headlights which is typical of a car this age and some minor pebble road chips near the grill. Small indentation right below the left rear tail light(pictured and pointed out). Overall the paint looks excellent and clear coat is superbly shiny. The grill is in great condition. The chrome on the front and back bumper are both in excellent condition. The body is 100% rust free. Doors close smoothly with no sign of wear. Door jams are in great condition with all factory stickers in place. Diesel tank door is clean. The car has Michelin tires installed with plenty of tread life left and the wheels have been upgraded with MB chrome wheels that give it a classier look. Interior: The MB genuine leather is in excellent shape with no tears whatsoever. The Zebrano wood is without cracks or peeling and is nice and shiny. The drivers door panel has a couple of small cracks, so I included a new door panel in the trunk if you decide you want perfection. All buttons and door panels are shiny and in excellent condition. The shifter is tight and the lights are working perfectly. Window switches are in good working order. Head liner is very clean without any imperfections, dash is very clean with no cracks or fading. The carpets are in excellent condition. Glove box opens and closes without problem. Both front adjustable seat options operate as they should. Seats are very firm including drivers, passengers, and rear seats. That comes from being kept in a cool garage. The drivers seat looks much like the passenger seat. I am leaving the sheepskin on, unless you would like it off. It is in very good condition and is a very comfortable amenity. Mechanical: The OM 603 Engine is in excellent tight condition without any oil leaks. Regardless of the weather temperature outside, the engine starts with ease, and smooths right out after about 3 or 4 seconds. All hoses are in good condition. Suspension does not creak or clank. All the bushings are tight. Steering wheel doesn’t have any unwanted play. The brakes are strong and the transmission shifts smoothly as it should. Accessories Condition: Lights all work well, along with turn signals, head lights, high beams, fog lights, brake lights, parking lights, reverse lights, license plate lights, etc. Power windows, seats, and sunroof working. Original Becker stereo works quite well. The power antenna goes up when you turn the radio on. Cruise control works as it should. Power locks work as they should. I just had the A/C retrofitted yesterday to R-134A, by request of bidders. So bid confidently knowing that it blows harder than any vent I have ever experienced. Icy cold too.
