I used this car as my ‘road car’ and drove it every day. It ran really well and I loved how it looked, so I decided to have it expertly refinished. The body shop did a great job, but it took them over three years. From sitting, the car developed all sorts of little problems that I’ve been fixing one by one. At this point, I’ve invested far too much time and money in it and want to just move on. For the right person, this would be an easy project and the results will be stunning. The things I’ve fixed/replaced/restored have been done properly and at great expense. It’s a beautiful car that still needs a fair amount of work to be a truly great car. EXTERIOR: The exterior is the nicest part of the car. It was expertly repainted three years ago in PPG 2-stage paint (the same paint Ferrari uses). It’s still very nice and shiny, but has gotten a couple of very small nicks/blemishes since completion. - Fairly straight sides (see photos) - Not rusty (one very, very tiny bubble on front fender) - Body moldings color-keyed like a 1991 model - Chrome upper front bumper replaced at a cost of over $500. The rest of the chrome/stainless brightwork is ‘driver quality.’ That is, it is shiny and presentable, but not show quality. - Door weather seals and sunroof seal renewed - Car was painted with all of the trim, moldings, etc. removed to avoid overspray INTERIOR: Needs finishing - Original blue leather in good shape - Carpet is nice - Wood trim on dash is faded - Wood center console panel has been refinished but the mounting tabs are broken so it doesn’t fit properly (see photos) - All power windows & switches work - Sunoof works - Needs a headliner. Badly. (see photos) - Climate controls are intermittent. When they decide to work, the car has ice cold A/C. I believe the control unit in the dash to be faulty. It’s another problem from having sat too long. When I drove the car every day, the climate controls and A/C worked faultlessly. MECHANICAL Starts and runs great New tires on new chrome wheels Transmission replaced this year, from a parts car with 80,000 miles that I drove and confirmed had a good transmission. Strangely, sometimes it hesitates to shift from second to third. I can’t explain it, but the old ‘bad’ transmission did this, too. A retired Mercedes mechanic told me that the shifts are vacuum controlled and that it needs to be adjusted. Long story short, I put a known-good transmission in it and the car still has the problem it used to have. New rear brakes, including calipers Needs emergency brake cable installed (part included) New fan clutch New neutral safety switch TERMS: AS-IS, WHERE-IS WITH NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED, WRITTEN OR IMPLIED.
