Vehicle Detail
1974 Chevy Caprice ConvertibleFactory ordered 400 cid motor 88813 original milesNo Reserve Auction Must bid to win 1974 Chevrolet Caprice Convertible Only a 3 year production for this body style. Chevy did it again another super design that is so cool and rare and very desirable. Car features a factory ordered 400cid small block v/8 motor, 2 barrel carburetor, 3 speed automatic transmission, Factory Air conditioning, Power roof up and down, Vinyl interior, Power windows, power locks, am fm factory stereo, rear factory fender skirts. Car was built in 04/1973 door sticker on door jam and titled in 1974, Car has 88813 actual miles which will change a few miles with test drives. The car does run well. This car has been driven less then 2700 miles in the past 29 years. For the past 15 years it has been inside storage and not started during this time. In the past 4 weeks this car has been dug out from storage. Gas was added along with a battery and oil and filter was replaced. And as any Chevy lover would expect this car started very easy with a a few moments of cranking and a little help priming the carburetor and it ran well. I did have to replace brake master cylinder along with rear wheel cylinders on left and right sides, bled brakes, new fluid in all lines and know car stops well. And of course of I had to take that first 4 mile test run after setting all those years amazing it was a cold day and I had great heat and it ran well. I had this car out also on a day that we were only 0 degrees again worked well. Folks I have taken all these photos within the week of this ad being listed. I will do my very best to give you the most accurate and honest description of this car possible I hide nothing and try not to forget anything. If you have any questions or concerns during this auction or need any other pictures please or information, feel free to email me and I will get them to you. Interior: Things I found with the car that I feel you should know. We will start with interior: Instrument panel seems to have all working gauges and odometer, working stereo, Power windows and locks all work but are a little slow (need to be used) . Seats are very nice, power top works but I only put it up about a 12 inches because of cracking the top being so cold. ( top should be replaced) Car will need weather strips and seal replaced. The carpet has been removed at some point, I may have it hear in a bag not sure but it also (needs replaced). Exterior: Things I saw and can point out to you. Folks this is overall a very nice solid straight car that has never been modified or messed with. To exception of the paint it is not the original color it has been painted brown in the early 1990s. The original color was darker blue which there are still areas the original blue can be seen in pictures. Bumpers and trimmings are not so nice, broken or cracked bumper filler aprons, left front headlight bezel is loose. Car has great frame can see that there are rust blisters starting on quarter panels and trunk lid any few areas on car. Car body looks to be pretty straight. I did take pictures of the car on a lift so I could verify and show you the frame floors and underside of body. floors do have some small minor patches either metal pieces or inside a little fiberglass coating. nothing major but trying to give you all the details. Good or bad. Please look at all the pictures and please ask if you need any other ones. Mechanical: Things I think you should know or I that I noticed. Car does run very well after warming up a few minutes then it will idle on its own, but does have a hesitation and a flat spot in acceleration, This car does have great heat but blower fan does have that common squeal for about 5 seconds upon turning on. Slight exhaust leak and normal lifter tap. (needs run), A/C is not cold but hooked up belt on and complete will need charged, Tires are like new except about 25 years old and flat spot from sitting they ride terrible, (need replaced) I did not check parking brake. This car should have a complete and full service gone over. New spark plugs, plug wires, points and condenser, fan belts, air filter, fuel pump, carb cleaned. Folks these items I mentioned are just my opinion you may not want to do anything to this car just drive it. I just want you to know things you may not see in pictures. Very solid car. This is really a nice car. Again that never been torn apart and modified. A great piece of history that you can drive, most history you can only read about. Auction end and final payment: This car is being sold AS IS no warranty of any kind. And titled as a 1974 with clear and free title, actual miles. You must paypal $500.00 deposit within 24 hours of auction ending and the Balance due within in 5 days with cash or certified funds. I will store this car inside for up to 30 days free of charge must be paid in full. If using a shipper for the car, I will work with your shipper of choice, and accommodate in any way or help I can be, But need 24 hour notice before picking it up. Folks I spend a lot of time on the pictures and the description to give you the most honest and accurate information possible. If you need anything more about the car information or another picture please contact me by email. If you need I will do a phone walk around the car with you panel by panel really. Also for anyone needing or wanting to test drive feel free email ahead to set up a time, And if you want to come and see car on the high lift you can check it with a fine tooth comb. Really whatever I can do I will if possible to make it this the easiest car purchase you ever made. I would love to keep this car but I just do not have the storage space. Hate to see it go ? I do not end auctions early for any reason so you must bid to win. Good luck bidding. Best of all no Reserve, Bid what its worth to you. Cant get any easier than that ! Got to love these auctions Good Luck Bidding. On Feb-07-19 at 16:44:24 PST, seller added the following information: Folks just to let you know that the car was being checked over by potential buyer and test driven and we had put a total of 9 miles on odometer and saw the speedometer stopped, This happened when we were backing up and tires spun on a section of ice and then got traction. After returning I removed cable from going into transmission and started car put in drive, and the plastic worm gear is not spinning that turns the speedometer cable. (Probably bad tooth on plastic worm gear.) posted this on 2/7/19 at 7:43 Sorry forgot to mention dash pad in ad, does have cracks from heat and age. On Feb-07-19 at 16:52:23 PST, seller added the following information: Did add new photo of odometer after the 9 miles posted 2/7/19 at 7:51
