Vehicle Detail

1972 Honda CB450 DOHC. We originally purchased this bike several years ago at a local auction. It was dirty but complete and very low miles. We stored the bike in the back of the garage until we opened our new shop. We went thru the bike and gave it a good tune up and a well deserved cleaning! We were shocked to find the original green paint in pretty good condition! So we waxed it up and put it on the showroom floor. At our grand opening, a long time customer of ours, Butch Jones, showed some interest in the bike and we talked about what he wanted and why. He started off telling us about his Naval service in the late 60's and early 70's. He was fortunate enough to dock in Japan for a couple weeks and the Captain of the ship announced the crew could purchase motorcycles and put them on the boat since they were heading directly back to the US. So Butch and his buddy each purchased a new CB450. Butch remembers both of them ordered the Candy Red colors. After waiting about a week, they were told they could go to the warehouse and pick up their bikes. Excited, they worked their way thru town to the warehouse. After some translating issues, the warehouse clerk brings out their bikes! Of course they were still in the crates and transporting them to the ship was somewhat of a hassle but they managed. Once on the ship, they were put in storage down below and left alone for the trip back home. After the ship docked in San Francisco, they waited patiently for the bikes to get unloaded. After an eternity, Butch and his buddy seen them come off the ship. With only a few tools, they rapidly tore apart the crates only to find TWO blue bikes! Although disappointed on the color, they were excited to get them up and running for the trip home. Neither of them had rode a motorcycle before so it was quite a show on the dock as they figured out how to handle these new toys! Well, with only the clothes on their back and a small duffel bag, they started their trip to Iowa. Butch recalled the trip like it was yesterday, including riding thru the mountains with no jacket and 30 degree weather! As life happens, Butch eventually sold the CB for newer, bigger and better bikes and was an avid rider throughout the years. As we were talking that day, Butch asked us if we could paint it Candy Ruby Red just like the bike he wanted so many years ago. Of course we obliged. We also polished the cases and detailed the bike. Unfortunately Butch passed away this year after a long bout with cancer. We were contacted by Butch's daughter to help her sell the motorcycle as Butch had several and she couldn't keep them all. The bike starts, runs and stops as it should and needs nothing. All lights and gauges work. Tires are about 75%. Yes, we believe these are original miles. Clear title. The bike is titled as a 1973 but manufacture date is 05/72. This is a beautiful bike that draws attention anywhere it goes. You will not be disappointed! Please ask any questions prior to bidding and only bid on this bike if you are ready to pay for your purchase. Thanks and good luck!
