Until recently this was a 9 or 9.5 / 10 example of a limited production 3000GT VR4 Spyder. Unfortunately the car had a blowout which caused a spin into the highway concrete barrier. Step-son and I were going to take on as a project, however he has a newborn so no longer has the time to commit. The car can be repaired or used as a donor itself. Still in possession of clear blue Texas title. Now in need of structural repairs from the cowl forward, and rear bumper/support bar/ bumper shock (driver side). All structural parts needed (rails,apron,cowl,cross members,etc) are available from dealer for approx $2500 (before shipping). Easiest reconstruction would be to locate a good donor 3000GT with good body panels and structure. There are only a few parts not shared with the SL or base models so most parts can be shared. The engine cradle cross member and passenger side rail are specific to VR4s. Convertible top is operational and has good weather stripping. Deck lid works as it should and the top raises/lowers as it should. Only issue is the windshield frame and the top do not align correctly. Since the top does not latch to the header, the computerized closing sequence ends at that point. This leaves the rear quarter windows in the "tucked" position. Car interior (outside of airbag deployment) is a 9/10. Stock except for aftermarket radio equipped with Bluetooth. A local body shop reviewed the car and provided me with a $3000 estimate. This was conditional, had to bring car with engine/trans removed and bring a donor parts car (complete with good parts). Estimate covered repairs of replacement of front ends, rear bumper parts and other as needed bodywork touches and paint, but doesn't include engine removal/installation or other misc parts which will be required (even with a donor car there will still be more required). Mitsubishi only manufactured the 3000GT Spyder convertibles for two years (1995, 1996) making it very rare. Less than 900 total Spyder VR4s were in the USA. This car would be 1 of roughly 325 produced in this color combination for 1995. These cars were technologically advanced for the day (and still today).
