If you are looking for a collector car that is ready for your local car show right off the trailer, this is it. You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a lot of fun. Unless you are going to a big MoPar show, it is unlikely you will see another car like this. This body style was two-year only, 1953 and 1954. It is not my favorite Plymouth, but the style has grown on me. I call her Betty. She has had a cosmetic restoration, meaning the body was painted without removing it from the frame and has all new period correct upholstery, seats, doors, carpets, and headliner. The car rides comfortably on a set of Coker wide whitewall radials. The paint and body work is not concours quality, but presents nicely. The engine starts easily and runs smoothly. The Powerflite automatic transmission shifts smoothly. The car does not have power steering or brakes. The manual window winders are some of the fastest you will ever see. This is a car that turns heads and starts conversations. People always remark about the beautiful two-tone colors. Again, it is not a fully restored car. The paint is shiny but has a few chips in it. The chrome is presentable for a driver quality car. The stainless trim is in great shape. The engine, running gear, and brakes are in good condition. The engine does leak a little oil as might be expected in a car of this vintage. It's not enough to worry about since the car is driven sparingly, so I have "fixed" it by putting a drip pan under it in the garage. So why am I selling it if I think it is so great? I am not a car dealer. I am a military retiree who enjoys owning old cars one at a time. I had a chance to buy a fully-restored 1954 Belvedere 2 door hardtop and I have room for only one collector car. If you have owned collector cars, you know that a 4 door Plymouth is not worth a lot and is not likely to ever be worth a lot. If you have never owned a collector car and have been looking for an inexpensive way to get into the hobby, this is an opportunity. With the paint and upholstery updated and the period correct wide whitewalls installed, the money has already been spent on this car. I am not going to reveal my reserve, but it is well under the $7500 book price for this car.
