Vehicle Detail
2001 Honda CRV EX with roof rack.173,000 miles The Good:A/C blows ice cold! Starts right up, even on the coldest days in winter. Not too rusty- see photos. Worst spots are around rear wheels. No check engine light!5 speed! Rare? Maybe. Fun to drive? Definitely.Originally from Oregon, so fairly clean, but has seen many winters on the east coast.Tires newer- likely no more than 12,000 miles.New ball bearing installed with adjacent part in December ‘17. ($550)The Bad:I pretty sure it could use shocks on the back and front sometimes squeaks when I push down on the struts.Leaking some kind of fluid - maybe power steering, as it had needed additional fluid last time I drove it.Will need brakes in near future, though that passed inspection last year (I havnt been driving this for 7 months)I think it will need a new battery (installed in Jan 2014).In general it should have new fluids/flush out old.Heater works but takes a while to warm up cabin (wife complained) I always wondered if it needed a coolant flush or water pump, but was never that annoyed by it personally. Final thoughts:I’m the 2nd owner, and when I bought it, i was a little worried that I was smelling antifreeze- I think it must be a pinhole leak somewhere, but coolant levels never seemed to get low. Maybe I’m just crazy. The clutch felt weird to me when I bought it, but it has been fine for 4 years, so I stopped worrying about it. It has an odd feel- Hard to explain, but seems about the same as 4 yrs ago.I’m selling because my wife wanted a newer CRV, and was worried about having an older one (its 17 years old!). I tried inspecting again for a 3rd/emergency vehicle, but the auto shop said I needed to drive it through the computer cycles, because the battery had died. I tried once, but didn’t get all the codes to clear, and then I decided to park it in my garage and deal with it later. Well, now I just need it out of my garage. I’m confident the codes will clear- apparently if you take it to a dealership they can force it through the codes. I just don’t have anymore time to put into this. I make no guarantees folks, but I think with some TLC this baby could last for years to come. Sold as is! Ask me any questions!
