Up for sale is my 2002 Suzuki V-Strom DL-1000. As can be seen from the pictures, this bike is in fantastic shape. It has always been kept in a closed garage and covered when not being ridden, with the battery connected to a Battery Tender. I am the original owner. The Givi case on the back is included. The bike starts instantly with no drama, and runs like new. The vast majority of the mileage (74,169 mi) is from when I commuted on a night shift from Pasadena, CA to Anaheim, a distance of 95 miles round trip, 4 days a week. All but a tiny fraction of this commute was on the freeway. The bike has never been crashed, ridden hard, or taken off-road. It did fall over on its right side in my driveway (which is uphill) once which resulted in a bent foot brake lever, which I bent back, a hairline crack in the black plastic next to the tach (which you can see in the picture of the console), and a couple of small scratches on the turn signal and front fender. The only issue this bike has ever had is that from the start I’ve had to set the idle at 1500 RPM instead of the recommended 1200 RPM because when its very hot outside, it had a tendency to stall at stops unless the idle speed was raised. The battery and countershaft sprocket were both replaced a couple years ago, and all maintenance has been performed on schedule – this bike has been babied in other words. The original manual with its service history noted inside is included. The bike has a K&N air filter installed, and the tires, while they still have some mileage left, should probably be replaced because they are about 10 years old. I am selling it simply because I’m getting older and don’t ride it. It is registered for 2018 with the DMV as non-operating since I don’t ride it anymore. I would prefer local pickup (Los Angeles area), but will ship if buyer covers shipping costs and makes arrangements for crating and pickup. Happy bidding!
