Vehicle Detail
In 2000 Jeep produced 2,821 Cherokee's with the special package known as the "Freedom." The Freedom Edition Cherokee's were based on the Cherokee "Sport" but with the following differences:16" Italian Made Alloy Wheels, known as the "Ultrastar." Chrome Grill and Headlight Bezels. Flat black painted front and rear bumpers(Sports had body colored bumpers). No black side molding like is found on Sports. Textured black bumper end caps. Textured black Fender Flares(Sports had body colored Fender Flares).Factory CD/Tape combination radio(A nice upgrade over a tape deck in 2000) which will come with the Jeep. The Freedoms were offered in the following OEM paint colors: Flame Red; Paint Code PR4. Solar Yellow; Paint Code PYH Stone White; Paint Code PW1Silverstone Metallic; Paint Code PS5 (This is the color of the Jeep)The Freedom was a factory produced "Appearance" package based on the Sport. A popular misconception is that the Freedom's were Cherokee SE's that later had dealer installed options which is incorrect. Freedom's were produced on the assembly line alongside other models and based on the "Sport" Cherokee. Additionally the VIN number will show the vehicle to be a "Sport" and not an "SE". The Freedom package was created by Jeep as a way to burn off excess inventory. The 16" Alloy wheels originally came on the special edition 1998 5.9 Grand Cherokee, and later on the 60th AE 2001 Jeep Cherokee's which this has. In 1999 the Sport Cherokee switched styles, and had painted bumpers and fender flares, prior to this the 1997 and 1998 Sports had textured fender flares and black bumpers which this has. The chrome grill was only used on the relatively low production Limited Cherokee's, so excess was burned off in the Freedom. This leads to the couple of other variances in the Freedom packages. Some Freedom's came with the NP231 transfer case, all the ones I have personally seen came with the NP242 transfer case which this has. I have seen one Freedom with the Dana 35 rear axle, and the rest with the Corporate 8.25 rear axle which this has. Of the two Freedoms I have seen that were produced in March neither had Factory cruise control like this version. I have only come across two Freedoms with factory tinted glass and this has factory tint. This Jeep has had new front brakes, radiator, hoses, exhaust, new battery, original paint, tune up, and original interior. The front bottom of the driver's seat has some tears and there are some chips in the paint. It drives great and I have only put on approximately 300 miles in two years. Condition for an 18 year old vehicle, especially a 4X4 is really good. This was slated to have a 4 1/2 lift and 33" tires, which are for sale, but I decided to leave it as is. On Apr-29-18 at 10:30:01 PDT, seller added the following information: As to the Minor Accident. I have contacted DMV and they have no record of this vehicle being in any accident. I am the second owner and I have owned the about 18 months and driven it less then 300 miles. There are no signs of any leaks whether it is oil, transmission, rear main seal, diff, or otherwise. If you have any question just contact me. Thank you for looking.
