Vehicle Detail
1991 Honda Nighthawk 750. 42392 miles on the odometer. Comes with a Plexifairing 3 clear fairing. It has back rest/luggage holder. There is no center stand, side stand only. I am also throwing in the Clymer repair manual, oil and filter for a just-about-due oil change, and a replacement clutch lever that I haven’t gotten around to installing. I purchased this bike in 2011. I put 12,000 miles on it commuting to work in the first 5 years. It has been absolutely reliable and a pleasure to ride. During my ownership it once fell over in a parking lot leading to a bent clutch lever. No other mishaps with me. I didn’t ride it much 2 summers ago, and not at all last year due to growing arthritis in hips, knees and hands. So, it’s time for it to go to someone younger. Prior owner had replaced the clutch cable and chain just before I bought it. I put in a new battery about 3 years ago and have kept it on a trickle charger so the battery is in good shape. I had new tires and rear brake shoes installed in 2012, replaced a fork seal in 2014. I changed the oil myself every ~3000 miles. At the state inspection in March 2017 they told me the front brake pads were due to be replaced pretty soon, so that will be needed. Bike has been garaged the entire time I owned it. The prior owner told me the same thing. I don’t know about previous owners. The bike will start and idle fine, but stalls when I give it throttle so I think it needs a carb cleaning. This is a new thing this spring and is probably a result of being idle over the last year. The 27-year-old bike is basically in good shape but it is not a pristine show piece. Here is a list of the flaws. 1) There is some scaring on the engine and tail pipes indicating that it has been down under some previous owner. 2) As stated, it fell over once for me and has a bent clutch lever. 3) There are typical old bike dings on the gas tank. 4) The foot pegs are a little beat up. 5) There are some scattered rust spots on the tail pipes. Fairly typical for an older bike. 6) The title has an odometer “not actual miles” warning. It had that when I bought it and I don’t know any details.
