Vehicle Detail
For Sale: the greatest "overland" utility vehicle every built...the Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser! These are listed as one of the top investment vehicles by several motor journals. This is my 4th Cruiser and I've loved them all. Here is everything I know about it...Chevy 350 V8 conversion. You either want the original 2F inline 6cyl or the Chevy V8, nothing else. This one runs strong! My retired mechanic neighbor pulled the cam cover off when we were installing the carburetor and he lit up over how clean the oil was - clear amber. Good compression. No drips. Chevy 400 Turbo automatic transmission. 4spd. Shifts smooth, not like a 2010 truck obviously but it's solid.Original Toyota transfer case.4WD works good. I don't take it off road much since I'm in LA.NEW Holley 600CFM Factory Refurbished 4bbl Carburetor with Manual ChokeNEW Chevy Small Cap HEI Distributor with new plugs and wires & 50K E-Core CoilNEW Muffler and dual exhaustPOWER STEERING works great.Drum brakes. It's not been converted to disc up front because it brakes great (if it ain't broke don't fix it as they say). It does have a newer master cylinder though.33x12.5 all terrain tires with plenty of tread left on 15" Enkei wheels. It has a lift...my guess is a 2.5" judging from the shackles. Shocks are pretty good but I might replace them in the near future. You'll notice the clamps on the side holding the top. I hate taking 20+ nuts and bolts off when I remove the top and I hate putting them back on even more! I put the clamps on to make it much easier and I can tell you right now I don't know why more people don't do it and I will on every one I own! These tops are heavy enough that they don't move and the clamps lock it in place. They allow a lock if you feel like someone would actually try to steal the top (if you've ever taken one off you'll know it's a 3-man job to do it right and impossible to do without making noise). Still uses the windshield frame bolts. Interior is awesome! Marine upholstery and carpet in black. There is one tear in the drivers seat that I may have time to fix before selling but other than that it's in perfect shape.Gauges all work except the tach which I think is just a connection issue. Fuel gauge needle wobbles a bit but it's accurate enough that I haven't worried about it.Heater/defrost works. Wipers work. Lo/Hi headlights work. Turn signals work. Brake and parking lights work. Some surface rust here and there but otherwise solid. Floors have some surface rust but they're still solid. I bought it in Scottsdale AZ and shipped it here to LA, both very dry climates. It has a TUFFY LOCKING CENTER CONSOLE with a locking stereo compartment that houses a Bluetooth head unit. There is also an amp and 6 speakers (two up front, two in back and two subwoofers behind the seats) that were all mounted tastefully and they blend nice with the interior. I disconnected all the wires with plans to reroute it but haven't yet. The wires were too long and coiled up under the seat and I wanted to clean it up. But it's all there ready to connect. There is also another locking box under the drivers seat.Full CUSTOM ROLL CAGE framing the entire interior with center bar. SOFT TOP that I've never put on. BIKINI TOP W/ SOFT DOORS as well (that I've used).Swing out spare tire carrier that I removed just because I like the clean look.Shoulder seat belts in front attached to the roll cage. VIN plate is clear and readable and it even has a plate for the engine conversion which isn't required in CA but some states do. This just tells me it was all done very professionally.SMOG EXEMPT in CA! Anything before '76 you don't have to smog. Having owned a '76 I can tell you that is a blessing. Clear title in hand. Registered until the late summer. If you know Land Cruisers then you know they are all over the place with price. One guy asks $30k for the same thing another guy is selling for $20k. I'm realistic and so is my price. I don't have to sell it either. I love Cruisers but there are also a few classic cars I like and I don't need a fleet so I decided to sell the FJ to make room (+ my wife thinks 4 cars for the two of us is a little overkill). If it doesn't sell then I have plans for it. If you're a SoCal buyer, come drive it. Just message me. *** Paypal deposit required within 24hrs of auctions end ***
