Vehicle Detail
1974 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible, 500 ci, FWDCar was bought and stored in 1988 with 41,500 original miles. Appears to have no rot and to be solid throughout. Running project to drive as you restore or give it TLC. It is not perfect, and while I don’t know the previous history or ownership of the car prior to 1988, I can see where parts of the car were repainted before 1988 and see a spot of surface rust where paint chipped off shown in one of the pictures. From what I can see, other than the radio, the car is mostly original. The interior isn’t perfect, but it is very, very nice for 44 years old. There is very little wear to the carpets and the seats, looks like they'll clean up nice with some attention. Has the original floor mats and owner’s manual still in the glove box. Clock in the dash works and seems to keep time. Oddly enough, it doesn’t leak fluids on my garage floor as I would expect. Door panels cracked and convertible top is rough. Car is registered and has current PA inspection. I have over a $1,000 in parts receipts waking this car up from the 30-year sleep. It needs more attention, but if someone wants an Eldorado convertible, I think it's a good start. Those that know these cars are familiar with the plastic filler panels from the bumper to the body and that very few have not needed them to be replaced front and rear. Full sets are available from reproduction vendors. Another seemingly common issue is the exhaust manifolds. I replaced the left/driver’s side manifold that was cracked and installed new manifold gaskets on both sides. Changed the oil and filter. New tires, battery, starter, front brake pads and rotors, master cylinder, typical of cars stored for periods of time. Car seems to handle the road as it should. Had the top down and back up with the motors running after sitting for 30 years, but had to get a friend over to help me get it latched back down. I would imagine it needs to be lubed and the adjustment gone over. Bought a carb rebuild kit, fuel filter, new cap, rotor, points, condensor, plugs and wires but not installed, if I don't get to it by auction's end, I will send them with the car. I drove it locally to work one day this week. That said, fuel filter should be replaced, carb rebuilt and install the tune-up parts before you're going to really enjoy it. I would trailer this car home. Look over the pictures, while not a Cadillac expert, I will attempt to answer any questions about the function or condition of the car the best I can. Don't ask me what the low reserve is or to stop the auction for a "buy it now". Please don't be the winning bidder after the auction is over, then ask me if the A/C works, if I can get someone to restore the car cheap, if it would be a good college car for a kid, or if it could be driven 1,000 miles home. It is good project car that is 44 years old. I can tell you this, driving through town in a 1974 red and white Eldorado with your arm out the window, get's attention and rubber-necking from both young and old. It's your turn to work on it and enjoy it. Buyer has all pick-up and shipping responsibilities from 18073. Deposit via PayPal within 24 hours. Balance must be paid and car picked up within 10 days of auction’s end.
