Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1990 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo 5 speed that has 68.9k original miles on the ticker. This car is fully original; it is the factory installed TT engine, turbos, and paint, and is exactly what you would expect from a car that has been meticulously cared for. It has not been abused, tracked, raced, smoked in, in an accident of any sorts, or subject to any tacky modifications. I purchased the car approximately 10 years ago with 54k miles on it from a Z enthusiast in my then home state of Ohio, and have owned it since then. The car has always been garaged, and driven only on nice days. It was only in the rain if I was caught out in it, and of course never driven in snow. The reason for selling the car is time. As with a lot of people, my free time has tightened up considerably over the years, and I am just not driving and enjoying it like a proper Z owner should be. This Z has only received the highest level of care. Every bit of maintenance aside from basic oil changes done by myself, was completed by Ohio Z expert Tim Davis with OEM or better parts. During the ownership of the car, I have spent over $5,000 in parts alone for maintenance and some tasteful upgrades. I have all receipts for the parts should you like to have them. Maintenance and mechanically speaking, the car is in turn key condition. Every major pain point with the car has been addressed already, so this beast is ready to roll. This includes a full timing belt service at 58k miles, which included proper PFR6B-11B plugs, PVC valves, custom engineered Ramey Z idler studs, upgraded Koyo radiator, all radiator hoses, and a new fuel filter. The clutch was replaced at approximately 60k miles with a Southbend DXD TZ SS clutch, which is rated for (575TQ) much more power than she is currently holstering at the crank (~450 TQ). At that time, the main seal, throwout bearing, and pivot ball were replaced. Additionally, everyone knows the injectors are prone to failure on the early Z32 cars. Therefore, I also replaced the fuel injectors with NISMO 740cc injectors and paired them with a DW adapter kit. I also added new Hawk HPS brake pads, and a complimentary master cylinder brace. I performed all oil changes myself every 2k miles with nothing but full synthetic from Mobil 1 or RP. There is also a new oil pressure sending unit as well as an upper left control arm. Last, I did purchase a new 5 year battery just the other weekend. The car has all systems go as you would expect from the factory (OEM nissan stamped windows/t-tops, climate control, power locks, etc.). The car fires right up, purrs very nicely with no lifter tick, and does not smoke. Cosmetically, the interior from the factory was cloth and re-upholstered with black and white leather, and finished with some nice Z embroidery. Obviously some white trim was added, which is in nice condition and still clean. I have the receipt for this totaling about $1k. The wheels 1 piece speedy wheels, 19x9.5 out back and 19x8.5 in the front and are in excellent condition with zero curb rash. I do not have the original wheels. The car is outfitted cleanly with a decent CD player as well as a bazooka bass tube in the trunk. Additionally and as expected, the car has zero rust and was not smoked in at all. Performance wise, the car has some tasteful and quality breather mods. It is outfitted with a Selin 2x intake, Z1 sidemount intercoolers, and a full 2.5” full exhaust system from the turbos back. The system includes 2.5” Megan downpipes, 2.5” Specialty Z high flow cats, and a 2.5” Stillen stainless steel quad tipped exhaust. The car has a great sound to it, does not rattle whatsoever. The car has never failed emissions with the SZ cats, and has successfully passed every sniffer test, as required recently as September 2018 here in Colorado. I also outfitted the car with an unorthodox underdrive pulley, and also installed the overdrive water pump pulley as well to return that to normal speed. I also outfitted the car with an HKS EVCS boost controller and custom Specialty Z chip/fuel program. I run the car at 14psi, but did turn it up to 16psi for a dyno run I did. The car put down 364HP and 388 TQ, indicating approximately 420 HP at the crank and 450 TQ. Given the state of the breather mods, clutch, and fuel setup, the car is fully ready to receive some bigger turbos if that is what the new owner wants to do. The car would be capable of 470-500 RWHP in its current state if that route is taken. Last, the car is outfitted with a short throw shifter. Covering the last point is squawks with the car. The car is in beautiful condition, but things aren’t entirely perfect and want to be as upfront as possible. Aside from some very minor paint chipping on the front of the car, there are 3 small dings – the back left quarter panel, the front right pillar arm, and on the driver side t top. They are quite small, but they are still there. I outlined these in the youtube video. Second, it appears that the rear main seal has developed a small leak. I noted this on my last oil change I performed on the car, which was 7/2017. The leak is not bad. Third, I did back the car into a compressor sitting out of place in the garage when parking almost 8 years ago or so, which scratched the rear right panel behind the tire. It was a small scratch, but nonetheless, I had the 3 inch section properly repaired and repainted. The repair job is excellent. Also, on my last long drive with the car last summer, the AC did stop blowing cold mid-way through a long trip. I turned the car off and back on and it was back for the remainder of the trip, so I believe this was the compressor clutch. So it’s working, but just a heads up. As indicated in the youtube video, the compressor kicks on fine. Finally, the tires need to be replaced, they are old. You may also want to know that I did re-title the car to my dad a few years ago. I moved out of the country and couldn’t renew the registration online, and for the sake of keeping the car moving occasionally rather than parked, I titled it to him and had him register the car back in Ohio to drive every now and then. When I moved back, I re-titled it back to myself. Of course I have the clean Colorado title in hand. Car located in Denver, CO. In conclusion, you are looking at a meticulously maintained and well cared for car. It is in overall outstanding condition and ready to be enjoyed. I will also include my detailed appraisal for the car which was completed by classic car consultants in Cleveland, Ohio, who also outlined the excellent condition of the car. I will be responsive to any questions. I am not looking to dilly dally with the sale and am trying to attract serious buyers only. Therefore, I am requiring a non-refundable deposit via in person cash/cashiers check, or online with Paypal/Venmo for $1,000 within 24 hours of auction close. Full payment is due with a wire, cash, or a cashier’s check within 14 days of auction close. I am not taking a personal check or financing you on this purchase. If you can’t get to Denver within the 14 days, I would still appreciate full payment on time, but I am sure we could work something out on the pickup/delivery front if that isn’t in 14 days and could store the car in my garage for a reasonable amount of time until travel and/or other arrangements are made. I can work with you 100% on all fronts of the car delivery, including potentially driving it to your location (although I think you would want to drive it). However, buyer is to be responsible for all of these costs. I also have included 2 youtube videos outlining the car that I would highly recommend viewing if you are interested in the car: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vH3SEttb3g – review and a light drive, filmed 3/17/18 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15Q7wxqbam0 – dyno run with nice acoustics from 6 years ago.
