1991 Land Rover Defender 90 200tdiVIN: SALLDVAFHA484523 I have had this Land Rover Defender for about 10 months. It was imported from the UK and cleared all customs without concern. Was inspected by North Carolina DMV and has been titled, registered, and insured every since. Kept at my house and driven regularly. It has been a blast drive and the 200tdi engine is huge improvement over the 2.5 petrol, NA or turbo diesel options. Absolutely no issue in city driving and weekly take it on the highways above 70 mph. Recently did a 200 mile round trip drive for camping and returned over 25 mpg. The 200tdi starts with a puff of smoke and then runs smooth with plenty of torque. It is more responsive than the 3.5 V8 Defender I have. No issues with shifting between High and Low or locking the differential (dashboard light works when engaged). The previous owner did many upgrades on this truck and I have many receipts:Disc brakes on all four cornersClutch master cylinder Slave cylinderSteering jointThree part clutch kit fork bearingTrack rodsThermostatLED Front headlight conversion - very nicely done with daytime accent lightsWinch - have only tested it with wired remote and it works greatSnorkel kit I have added a new low profile cargo roof rack that has an LED light bar. The front LED light bar currently is not wired but the rear LED work light is wired in and working. The truck does look to have a suspension lift as it sits higher next to standard Defender but I do not have details about the brand. From my estimate it looks like a 2" lift. Tires are BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM2, LT255/85R16 on black steel wheels. Tires have lots of tread and look really good on this truck. Interior has upgraded cloth seats that have good amount of support for long drives. Upgraded steering wheel, cubby box with cup holders, stereo with bluetooth support (connect my phone every time for music), and two benches in the back. Also has a carpet kit installed up front. The lights on the dash work, so does the speedometer, fuel gauge, temp gauge, horn, and has boost gauge added for the turbo. Installed new NAPA battery over the summer. Looks like this Defender started it's life red but at some point it was painted NATO Green in a satin finish, with a black top. I personally like the color combo and find that it fits look of this truck very well. If you want a gloss finish, you will need to have it resprayed. If you are looking for a pretty show car, this isn't for you. If you want a real Land Rover with the right look and capability this is it. Get a ton of looks where you go. Rugged yet usable, as I take it camping, tailgating, and cruising around town. This Land Rover is 27 years old and does not come with a warranty.
