Vehicle Detail
1979 Honda CBX was Honda's six-cylinder beast sent the Japanese firm roaring into the 1980s.All Honda's mechanical know-how went into the engine to make the 24-valve, DOHC behemoth a super smooth, torque-laden beast. The CBX was available on the market in late 1978, and the production model was even faster than the prototype.[8]Cycle World got a tested 1/4 mile time of 11.64 seconds at 117.95 mph (189.82 km/h), the 1978 bike was also the first bike they tested to go over 130 mph (210 km/h).[1] The 1979 CBX could cover a quarter mile in 11.36 seconds with a terminal speed of 189.82 km/h (117.95 mph). Up for auction is a beautiful 1979 Honda CBx 6 Cylinder! This bike has a little over 15k miles and had a very pampered life. The bike has always been stored indoors as you can tell by the pictures. This bike came out of our private collection and although we love the CBX, its time to thin the herd! As most of you know, these bikes are getting hard to find in this condition. We listed this bike a couple weeks ago and it did not meet the reserve. We suspect it was because the bike was not currently running and some bidders didn't want to take a chance on a non running bike. So.... We pulled the bike in the shop and made it run! As we stated in the original listing, we drained the gas prior to storing a couple years ago and hadn't had it started since. We removed and cleaned the gas tank, installed a new petcock, removed-disassembled and ultrasonically cleaned the carburetors. After cleaning we reassembled carburetors (yes.. six of them) and reinstalled the rack. We put in new fuel line and filters. The bike pops right off hot or cold. The brakes were a little sticky from sitting so we removed the front and rear calipers - disassembled, cleaned and then reinstalled. The whole system was bled and brakes great. Additionally we ensured the headlight, tail light, brake light and turns signals worked. The horn even beeps! The tires are in good to great shape. We put a new seat cover on as there was a very small tear in the original one. The bike is ready to ride! Please look at the pictures closely and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to email us thru ebay prior to bidding. We are selling this bike as is, no warranty is implied. We reserve the right to end this auction early as we have this bike for sale on other venues. We will gladly assist with loading the bike but the buyer is responsible for all shipping coordination and costs. We will hold the bike in our heated storage for up to 21 days after auction ends.
