I'm just the second owner of this SL. It's been maintained in remarkable condition. M119 5.0L V8 engine with 82k miles, gray leather interior, brilliant silver metallic exterior, black soft top. Of all the R129s, I believe 1998 is the most desirable model year. In 1996, a new 5-speed electronic transmission, side airbags, ESP and climate control were added along with slight redesigns to the interior and exterior. By the 1999 model year (with the advent of Daimler-Chrysler) the SL lost many of its classic Mercedes touches. This represents the apex of the classic R129 SL. Fully-functioning soft top in good condition with new hydaulic fluid and new clear windows installed last summer. Removable hard top and retractable wind screen. New Goodyear Eagle Sport A/S tires with less than 500 miles (purchased in December). We do have a stand for the hard top and might include. We also have a fitted cover. We'll also include the all-weather rubber Mercedes mats. Power everything, automatic climate control (AC and heat work properly), dual heated seats with memory, Bose sound system with 5-disc CD changer, Xenon HID automatic headlamps, security system, automated rollover bar and a long list of additional features. It's never been smoked in. I purchased the car from the original owner in New Jersey. After a long search, it was exactly the year, colors and options I wanted. As is typical with original buyers, the owner was well off and this was not a primary vehicle. It shows no signs of being driven during inclement weather. It remained in the garage most of the time. Underneath, the car is remarkably clean. This SL has been very well maintained. I did replace the mass air flow sensor but no other engine work has been required. I installed a new battery, new air and cabin filters, fuel filter, transmission filter/fluid, power steering filter/fluid, hydraulic fluid for the soft top, plugs and of course oil/filter. We have maintained a maintenance binder for reference that comes with the car. Two Mercedes ignition keys and original dealer booklet. Clean title in hand. We've downsized and I don't want to just store this SL. It's a lot of car for the money. I believe it will satisfy the most discriminating buyer.
