Vehicle Detail
Seven years ago I purchased this bike in pieces. It is matching numbers with a clear title and the preferred 5 speed. I have restored several Triumph Twins frame up so I knew what I was getting into. Over the following two years I built the rolling chassis and electrical system. It has sat in my climate controlled shop ever since and it is time to clean house. The engine is in pieces and I have inventoried the parts and they are all there. The roller has excellent chrome. Rims are great, front fender was NOS from a Norton 850 so no front brace for a cleaner look. Handlebars are new with the euro bend. Rear fender is great as well as the taillight bracket. The tail light lens is very nice and the signals are NOS Lucas. The headlight shell chrome is starting to get flaky, the headlight braces are very nice and the headlight rim is NOS and perfect. Headlight is a rare halogen Lucas. Seat is a new repop but somewhere along the line something poked a hole in the side of it about 1/8 in diameter. Forks were rebuilt with new tubes, seals and dust covers. Rear Girling shocks look like new. As with all English bikes that I do over I replaced the Lucas handlebar switches with Honda and replaced the Honda connector with correct Lucas bullet connectors to connect directly into the Triumph harness. See the shot of the inside of the headlight for how clean this looks. The charging system has been converted to electronic and the black box that you see mounted behind the coils is for the new tri-spark ignition. The electrical system is very dependable with these mods. The front master cylinder was replaced with a Honda replica and the rubber lines were replaced with braded steel. I have had a battery connected and everything electrical works as it should. Negative ground. Frame paint is very good, not chipped up, and I suspect the frame may have been stripped and reshot before I got it. The gas tank has fresh paint (well now it is six years old) and has yet to see sunlight. The tank badges and nice repops. There is surface rust in the tank but it is not bad and should clean up with a good rinse. The side covers are nice and the Trident badges are nice repops. The oil tank is clean. Chain and sprockets are new. The engine is in milk crates. There was a little chain rub behind the countershaft sprocket but other than that there is no rash on the cases. Included in the sale are new oversize pistons, new main and rod bearings, new valves and guides and a gasket set. Also included is a new top exhaust manifold. The mufflers I have for it are nice and I think they came from a 1971 or 1972 Trident so the bike will sound good. The carbs have typical wear for Amals. I would have them sleeved so it idles right but I bet these would work as is. They are clean. Also included is a new, correct air cleaner. I have considered parting the bike out and figured I would start with trying to sell it as a package. It shows well and needs someone that has experience rebuilding Trident engines to put it back together. It really is too nice to part out. Ask questions. I am sure there are a few small missing parts. Anytime you buy a bike in boxes something is bound to be missing so keep that in mind. I can send you pictures of the parts so message me with what you want.
