Vehicle Detail

This 2004 VW Passat GLS TDI is in good condition with no rust or paint fade. It was originally from Virginia and I work from home, so it hasn’t seen much winter driving conditions. The paint color is called stonehenge grey, but it looks like a greenish grey (see the pictures). As far as I know It has never been in an accident. I have always kept it in a garage and well maintained. I have a clear title to the car. This is a rare vehicle in that VW did not sell the Passat with a manual transmission in the US market. It is fun to drive with a 5 speed manual trans and the extra torque of a diesel engine. VW has decided to discontinue sales of diesel cars in the US, so it’s getting harder to find one in good condition. The 2.0 L diesel engine provides an excellent combination of performance and fuel mileage. I get an average of 39 mpg local and about 43 mpg highway driving. The Monsoon stereo system works well as do the cruise control, power windows, moon roof, AC and heating system. The 2004-05 BHW PD engines have known repair issues which have been addressed, so you don’t have to worry about it. You can read about it in the online forums http://www.tdiclub.com or http://www.myturbodiesel.com. Aside from regular oil changes, here is a list of repairs done. At 178,000 mi. the previous owner had the following repairs done: Replaced the automatic transmission with a 5 speed manual trans and clutch. Oil pump balance shaft delete Timing belt TB tensioner & roller Water pump Serpentine belt ECU tuning by TNTuning, stage 2 for manual transmission and EGR delete At 212,000 mi. ( I had done) Front brake pads and rotors CV joints (front axles) Front tires At 215,400 mi. Replaced camshaft, CS bearings, valve followers (lifters), OEM bolts. Rebuilt fuel injectors with new nozzles and o rings Tandem pump Timing belt MAF sensor Fuel filter Oil change with Amsoil 5W 40 (VW 505.01) and filter Air filter Cabin air filter After the recent work, it runs better than ever, with excellent acceleration and improved fuel mileage. It should run another 100,000 miles before any major repairs are needed. I hate to sell it after doing all the work on it, but I had bought a new car while I was deciding whether or not to invest in the repairs. It’s just been such a great car and I didn’t want to give up on it. I did a compression test on the cylinders and it still is well within spec, so I decided it is worth keeping it on the road. It is an older car so there are some flaws I will mention. While the body and paint are in good condition, there are some stone chips and parking lot dings, which are common for a car of this age (see the pictures). The back tires were still good when I replaced the front tires, but have more than 60% wear. The rear left door lock sticks sometimes and has to be pushed down manually to lock. The lighter color interior has some carpet stains. The rear seat ash tray cover came off and is in the glove box. There is a garage door opener control built into the sun visor, but it is broken and has parts missing. I have tried to describe the car as accurately as possible. If you have any questions or want more pictures, let me know and I will try to help. I’m selling as is with no warranties. This is for local pickup only, but I will assist if you arrange to have a transport company pick it up. If you drive it home, you will need to provide your own license plates and insurance. A $500.00 deposit is required within 48 hrs of the completion of the auction. I can hold the vehicle up to 2 weeks if you need to make arrangements to pick it up. I will accept the deposit via Paypal before you pick up and cash or a cashiers check due when you pick up. I will answer all inquiries through eBay messaging, until the deal is finalized, so please don't ask me to do a deal on the side. I received a request through Ebay messaging to do a deal by texting my Paypal account info to them. When I tried to respond through Ebay messaging, the email address came back as bad. Seems fishy to me. Let's keep everything open and transparent, so both the buyer and the seller are protected from fraud.
