Vehicle Detail

Very rare 1965 Chevelle Malibu true SS convertible. Originally a special order for a southern California dealership owner's wife, this Chevelle was ordered with factory AC which was fairly unheard of in convertibles at the time which was updated by the previous owner, factory power windows which had only become available from GM in 1964, power top, and a factory upgraded 300 HP 327 V8 with a powerglide transmission. The 300 HP option also means that it came with a factory tach which moved the clock to the bullet dash top extra. This car still has the original matching numbers 327 which was recently rebuilt by Spokane engine with a 30,000 mile/3 year warrantee and the powerglide was replaced by a turbo 350 for drivability although the original matching numbers powerglide housing is still with the car. The original SS hub caps also come with the car as well as the 1966 corvette "knock-on" wheels and hub adapters that were on the car when I bought it. Other performance upgrades include an aluminum radiator, electric cooling fan, edelbrock 600 CFM carb on the original intake and pointless ignition. The second owner purchased the car in 1978 and used it for a daily driver at his second home in California. He told me that in 1986 the lacquer on the exterior paint had become dull and that he had the exterior recoated, that the car had never been hit or dented, that it was bondo free, and you can see that it still has the original riveted grill as well as all the original chrome and glass. It's still the original color and the original paint under the hood/trunk/interior/door jams. The second owner then took the car to South Carolina for storage after retirement and then it came to Montana with me. Its always been stored indoors and it shows. As far as rust, this has always been a cared for, dry climate car. I showed a few small surface spots in the pictures and there isn't much more which is evident since it hasn't been touched body work wise since 1986 and as you can see the wheel wells are solid. It has the parkinglot dings hear and there like I showed that is expected of a car this original. It could use new blocking as the doors close a little harder than a new car since convertibles tend to settle over time but you can see in the pictures that it's extremely straight. It's rare enough that it deserves to be fully restored and taken to Barrett Jackson by someone who knows how. It also comes with the original books and protecto plate with the name of the original owner and the black California license plate. She's a head turner and always gets plenty of compliments. It has a clear title in my name and I'm selling it because its time to buy a house, I'll miss it though and regret selling it I'm sure. Contact me if you have any questions and thanks for looking.
