Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a nice 1973 vw thing! The body is better than average, in my opinion. The fenders have never been off! Paint in wheel wells, engine compartment, and underside of hood is still original. It was in original paint when I received the car, It had been off the road since 1987 according to the tags on it. Paint was just too thin from the Texas sun burning it off in some places, and there were a few dings here and there that were addressed as well. It now has 2 stage orange/clear coat urethane paint and is probably has a better shine on it than had originally! It is a very close match to the original pumpkin orange, but richer looking, if that makes sense! New "the thing" decals were added, as were new hub caps, custom bumpers, and new bright/off road lights to complete the look. The windshield also had to be replaced because it was delaminated/cracked.Seats have all been recovered in the factory style materials. The ignition switch, lock cylinder , turn signal switch, and wiper switch are all new. The engine is a 1600cc, with a new 34pict carburetor, new electric fuel pump, an aftermarket deep oil sump, new clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing, new "009" style distributor, plugs, and wires, all new exhaust and muffler, "one wire" alternator. Battery is fairly new as well. The brake system is almost all new, It has new front drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, and reservoir, soft brake lines, front to back hard line, rear wheel cylinders. etc.The car is a joy to drive, although I have only driven it around the block a few times, (no tags)! The car starts, stops , runs and drives. The engine sounds good and has decent power for a VW! This car is over 40 years old, as such, there is no warranty of any kind, it is not perfect. The brakes, clutch and probably a few other things will need adjusting as they aren't even broken in yet, this is pretty standard for a car of this vintage just being put back on the road. The exhaust is so new that the paint isn't even burnt off of it yet. Car shows approximately 43k miles, I would say there is a good chance that it is original, since the plate on it expired in 1987, but can not verify. Texas title in hand. You are welcome to ask questions, or come see the car, I will do my best to accommodate you. Bid only what you can and will pay for the car. The $500 deposit is due at the end of the auction and is not refundable! You are bidding to OWN the car, not the right of first refusal. Serious bidders only please! Buyer assumes all Paypal fees if they choose to use it as payment over the deposit. Good luck!
