Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on an extremely original, well preserved 1958 Morgan Plus 4 Convertible. 2 Tone Blue over Black Leather interior and Red wire wheels. A little about the history of the Morgan Plus 4 for those who are not familiar…The Morgan Plus 4 (or +4) is an automobile produced by the Morgan Motor Company from 1950 to 1969. It is a more powerful and in the case of the earlier cars, slightly longer version of the company’s previous 4/4 model. The Plus 4 was of course in direct competition with the likes of MG, Austin Healey, Triumph, Jaguar and Lotus. This particular Morgan Plus 4 is a 1958 model having been fairly recently uncovered from a more than 20 year long hibernation. Truly a “Barn Find”, although not having been found in a barn, but rather a remote mountain garage in Western NC. Photos are included of exactly how the car was discovered. Newer photos show the car currently after a modest cleaning. Due to the fact that the car has only had a few nurturing owners, and was stored for more than 20 years untouched, it remains in almost COMPLETELY original condition today. Things like the black leather interior and very rare “seat bladders” remain as they came from the factory in Malvern Link England almost 60 years ago!! You would be hard pressed to find a more original car in this “barn find” condition. The exterior of the car (paint, chrome and glass) are all in original looking condition. The Paint itself is ok from a distance and could be driven as is, but has cracking across the front fenders and chips in numerous places. The chrome is in quite nice condition still. The black convertible top and side curtains are original and reflect it with the back windows being clear but the fabric being weak with 1 small tear present across a soft top bow. They are certainly useable “as is” and would keep the elements out, but would be something to replace in any serious restoration activities. The interior of the car (seats, cockpit, carpet, door panels and dash) are also original and remain in surprisingly good condition. The leather remains relatively supple and the seats still have their original bladders. That beautiful wood dash with white faced gauges looks as though it came from the factory yesterday. The Brooklands 4 spoke steering wheel is still present and in nice condition as well. Mechanically the car is “as found”. Not currently running and will need to be gone through before getting it back on the road. The car was running when parked so the running gear is complete with everything properly connected and accounted for. The current Weber carburetor and intake manifold are not correct for the car, but the original intake and SU carburetors were stored and come with it also. The car does roll well for easy loading and moving around. All 5 factory wheels are present and in good condition while riding on period correct Pirelli 155 SR15 Radials. Please ask all questions prior to bidding and do not bid unless you intend to buy. Personal inspections are encouraged and must be completed prior to the auction end. Being sold as is where is with no warranties either expressed or implied. A $1000 non-refundable purchase deposit is due within 2 days of the close of the auction.
