Vehicle Detail
1974 Cadillac (Coupe de' Ville) convertible conversion. I am the third owner of this car. The second owner bought it from the original owner in 1996 and made a custom convertible out of it for parades and such. It appears to be a nicely done conversion, in my opinion. Although there is no top or mechanism present. 1974 Cadillac convertibles were Eldorado from the factory. The car came from an upscale Salt Lake county suburb where it was in a climate controlled garage, since 1996. 119,730 miles appears to be original. The car starts/runs and drives very nicely. Very smooth ride on the freeway. The second owner replaced the rear shocks//front brakes/valve cover gaskets and a transmission gasket along with a transmission service. The engine oil and oil filter look new. The battery is new.It appears to have had a recent tune-up as well. The radio and clock work. The power windows and seats work. The power antennae and the power locks do not seem to work. The car has all of the A/C components but the A/C compressor belt is not present. The car was obviously repainted in the original Apollo Yellow as part of the conversion. It's a decent 'driver quality' repaint. No visible rust, scratches or dents. The tires are an older tread pattern, however I can not see a DOT# on them. They are in very good shape with no visible cracking or dry rot. The car also comes with a nice custom car cover. It has the original owners manual, the factory keys and a very nice 1974 Cadillac repair manual. I installed a factory GM hood ornament that was apparently acquired by the second owner. (new in box) This is a really fun summer car that gets a lot of looks going down the road.It is being sold as-is, because its far from perfect and its 43 years old. I have described the vehicle honestly with full disclosure to the best of my abilities. You may call me with any questions about the car at (801)347-5793 BUYER is responsible for transport arrangements and costs.PLEASE check transport costs BEFORE bidding. I can recommend a good transport company if needed. On Aug-01-17 at 18:05:00 PDT, seller added the following information: There have been some questions about the convertible conversion concerning structural integrity. I have added a few more pictures. After a close look underneath the car,it does not appear that any fortification was added anywhere on the car. In my opinion, none is needed. Even with the C pillar missing there is virtually no movement when shutting the heavy doors. Like I had previously mentioned, it seems to have been a nicely done job. Also, these cars are built so tough, I cant imagine extra bracing on convertibles was anything more than government overkill. Not to mention the frame on the FWD Eldo convertible for 1974 was different than the coupes/sedans. I hope this addresses any concerns.
