Vehicle Detail
I am offering up this very nice 70 Charger that I personally own and built. I found the car about 15 years ago in Big Spring, Texas. It had been stripped down for restoration and never finished. The car was already painted but left as a bare shell. There was and is no rust at all that I can see. No paint bubbling up after at least 15 years on the car and it still shows beautifully. Typical question is why are you selling it? Because since I moved from West Texas, it has not been driven and I doubt that it will be. I get it out a few times a year and blow some rubber and spider webs off of it and then back in the garage to goes. Restoration was as follows: Legendary Interior complete from carpet to headliner and seats to package tray as well as door panels. New outside door handles, new sill plates, as well as new emblems. All new window fuzzies and weatherstripping from Steel Rubber. Dash pad and upper door bolsters restored by Just Dashes. Cluster and dash switches restored by Performance Car Graphics. Needs correct steering wheel about $400. New wire harnesses were installed both under dash and engine bay. Wiper motor restored to OE. Both bumpers were fully restored and re-chromed. Engine was originally a 383 as is standard on all Charger 500's in 1970. It is now equipped with a 440 stroked out to a 499 with Edelbrock aluminum heads that were flowed and matched to the Edelbrock intake manifold. It has a Mopar Performance steel crank and a Madden hydraulic cam. The bottom end was fully balanced and it is topped off with a Demon 850 carb. It uses Mopar Performance electronic ignition with MP coil and plug wires. I used a March single serpentine belt and pulley system with a billet pulleys and power steering pump and 1 wire alternator. The engine is cooled by a CAT high volume water pump and a BeCool aluminum radiator with dual electric fans controlled by a thermostat switch. Fuel is delivered from the new fuel tank via a Holley electric fuel pump thru all new fuel lines. Exhaust begins with TTI ceramachrome headers going into a 3" Flowmaster exhaust system and exits thru factory correct tips from Accurate Exhaust. Power gets to the ground via an A727 console shift automatic equipped with a MP shift kit. Prop shaft is routed thru a drive shaft loop from US Car Tool and ends up at a 8 3/4 sporting a new 3.23 gear set and rebuilt suregrip. Brakes were converted to disc in the front and use a MP master cylinder and rebuilt booster. New rotors and drums as well as all hardware, hoses, calipers and wheel cylinders. Wheels are original style Magnum 500's from Wheel Vintiques. There are a couple of small surface rust spots where condensation sat at the bottom or where one of my dogs pee'd on the tire. All new bushings and torsion bars. KYB shocks and a pinion snubber. The grille is perfect and the concealed headlamps and doors work perfectly. The car is an original A/C car. While I did install a new condenser, and a modern Sanden compressor, the lines are not completed and the A/C system is not yet functional. My advice would be to install a complete kit from Vintage Auto Air. They have a complete under dash kit with electronic actuators and it should work with the existing compressor and condenser. Windshield is new and door glass looks original. There are some vertical scratches in the door glass from wear going up and down thru dirty fuzzies. All windows front and rear operate properly. I've tried very hard to list all positives and negatives. I did not cut any corners when building this car and while I may be selling it now, it was built to keep. Bottom line is this is a very nice solid car that runs very well and shows just as well. I have a couple of videos that I shot a week ago that I am very willing to send to anyone seriously considering my car. Just understand that it has been in my garage for a long time and it has gotten quite dusty. There is no extra charge for the spider webs. You will know by the videos that this car is just how I have described it. If it makes sense for you, you are more than willing to come and go for a ride. I live just off of I-35 about half way between DFW and Austin, Texas.
