Vehicle Detail
Hello, We are selling our fully restored, from top to bottom, 1.9 Diesel 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup. We need to sell this cool little truck because we have moved to New York from California and did not want to bring it to the east coast where we do not have a garage to maintain it. It is heartbreaking because we love this car so much and it is in amazing condition. I have posted this car twice and took down the listing twice feeling cold feet about letting it go but now we have come to terms with the fact that we must sell it. I don't see the point of having it just sit while someone could be out there enjoying it on the road. I bought this car freshly restored from a guy who rebuilds these Rabbits as a hobby and has a lot of experience. All engine components are German, no expense was spared rebuilding this and it drives beautifully. It would easily make it across the country! I am hoping there are people who see how much this kind of thing is worth; I feel pretty certain that this is about as close you can get to buying one of these guys new. Body is straight and in great condition. There is a small blemish on the driver's side inside door panel. This car was totally restored from the ground up and is rust-free! Rebuilt 1.9 turbo diesel short block mated to a 1.6 turbo rebuilt head safely and properly, all new brakes, suspension, new upholstery, and fresh paint. The guy I bought it from had it painted in the original factory color code LE1B(SONNENGELB) Sunbrite Yellow. We have worked to keep this car as original as possible. It has a new Bosch battery with Bosch wipers and a new German Engine. All non-engine components are from the original manufacturer. Car is equipped with original working cassette player. Venting windows are currently sealed but I have all of the original hardware if you would like to open them back up again. I would have done so if I didn't have to let her go. There is also a cute little camper shell on it now. I have only had this car for a few months after searching for something like this for years. A safe guess is that this engine has about 3,000 miles on it, the odometer still reads 128xxx. This car gets great gas mileage and will last a very long time if it is well taken care of. Also a good candidate for veggie oil conversion. Right now the car is covered at my parents house in California where they start it up regularly. This care is for someone who knows and loves these Rabbits. Registration is current and has Nov. 2017 tags. The bottom of the car is in great shape and comes with a spare tire and new shocks. There is a jack in the car, too. Also has a trailer hitch. Working A/C! Please feel free to ask any questions! I have a LOT of love for this car and I have learned a lot. I am happy to share any knowledge I have about this Rabbit. Thank you for looking!! On Jul-05-17 at 09:34:26 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention that this has a 5-speed transmission! Also, we have a belt cover that can be fit onto it. Heater works as well as A/C.Thanks!
