Vehicle Detail
1962 was the last year of the Triumph Bonneville Pre-Unit, before the switch to Unit Construction in 1963. Completely restored over the previous year and finish last July, less than 15 mile on a total rebuild. Rebuild with the premise that (it does cost that much more to go first class) matching numbers frame and motor!!!! This is my bike and clear title in my name. I had intended to ride this bike but it’s so nice that it’s more of a show bike or museum peace. NADA values this bike at $21,500 in excellence condition which this bike is. Rebuilt motor, transmission, clutch, new wheels, tires and spokes, rebuilt tach and speedo were done by Nisonger Instruments in NY. Triumph restoration B&R Cycles in Oshkosh Wisconsin did the mechanical rebuild along with final setup, turning and then the road test. Absolutely a first class business. The bike was restored back to as close to original as possible. With a few exceptions. The caps for valve adjustment are not original, charging system is now 12 volt with all new NOS wiring, and the carbs were replaced with a new version of the originals. The original carbs will be given to the new owner. Air cleaner added to help protect the motor. Also the horn was moved to a place where it make more sense that under the seat. The paint is show quality and is a tri coat, base is silver followed by the orange (tangerine) color and then clear coat. Absolutely a beautiful paint job. The frame was cleaned and painted the original black color in signal stage black. The gas tank is a NOS triumph from England, most of the parts were purchased from England and if not were ordered from the Bonneville shop. The exhaust header pipes were ceramic coated on the inside to reduce the amount of exhaust pipe bluing on the header pipes. The bike runs very good and easy to start, usually on the first kick. The Triumph T120 Bonneville was a 649cc vertical twin, based on existing 650 Triumph twins, T110 and TR6, but with a twin-carb head and an extra carburetor. Pre-Unit Construction refers to any 650 twin built through the 1962 model year, because in 1963, Triumph came out with a new "Unit-Construction" engine. Pre-Unit, or Non-Unit Construction means that the Engine Crankcase, the Primary Case and the Gearbox are all separate components which are bolted together with brackets, in the frame. In the case of Pre-Unit Triumphs, and many other Classic British Motorcycles, the gearbox was actually rotated in its mounts as the only means of adjusting the primary chain. Once the primary was adjusted, the final drive chain then needed to be readjusted. Shipping will be the buyer responsibility but will help in any way possible. any questions please ask.
