We are offering for sale this lovely, low miles, 1958 BMW R69 w Georg Meier Large Sport Tank. It's a beauty!!! This is one of the cleanest R69 offered for sale anywhere in the world at this time!!! Motorcycle runs and rides excellent! We have ridden the bike and shifted all 4 gears, it was a pleasure!! "The BMW R 69 VIN 653309 was manufactured on January 31st, 1958 and delivered on the same day to the BMW importer Butler & Smith in New York City. The bike was equipped with a bench seat." This 1958 BMW R69 is a successor of the rare and collectable BMW R68 and a predecessor of the famous Performance machine of the times, BMW R69S. This is a 2 kick motorcycle, it has factory spark advance mechanism, correct and super rare "ISGUS" speedo, Acron high lip aluminum rims with stainless spokes, matching carbs 1/26/09 and 1/26/10 respectively. Bike starts easily and drives like a 58 year old champ. Bike comes with a set of tools, lock key and 2 ignition keys. Very rare motorcycle less than 3000 ever produced. Restore or ride as is. This is an older restoration completed in at "BOB'S BMW World" in Chicago IL in 1998. The scope of work included following: * Engine disassembled, new pistons, cleaned slingers, * Transmission and rear differential gone over w new bearings and seals, * Progressive Shocks Installed, * 12V Conversion kit from Ed Korn installed, * Schorsch Meier Sport Tank Installed, * New paint and stripes, Recent tuneup was performed by the same BMW mechanic that did the initial work in 1998. + Engine oil - 2 quarts, 4 oz's Valvoline VR1 40 + Final Drive - 150cc Sta-Lube GL4 Gear oil 85-90 + Drive shaft - 200cc Sta-Lube GL4 Gear oil 85-90 + Transmission - 800cc... Sta-Lube GL4 Gear oil 85-90 + Valves adjusted, + Timing Set, The R69 is high up on the list of desirable vintage BMW's. Of the post war bikes the R68 may be at the top, with the R69 being second. The first because it is the sportiest bike from a short post war period, the second because of limited numbers. This 1958 R69 was a new beginning for BMW, but just the first step in the evolution of the bike called the R69.Please look closely at the photos and video as they are an important part of the description.
