Vehicle Detail
Hop in, turn key drivable street rod 1955 Chevy Bel Air. This car has many many improvements done within the last 2 years. ALL drivetrain and following components are new from aluminum radiator / electric fan, 383 470 hp Whites Performance engine barely broke in around 800 miles ( electric HP fuel pump), 5 speed Stick OD Legend LGT-700 (.68 gear) trans, clutch, pressure plate and bell housing, HD driveshaft to Ford 9 inch 370 gear posi rear end and tires/ rims. New and easy breathing headers, dual straight exhaust and mufflers. Suspension all new from shocks, coils, 4wl disc brakes / dual master and lines, ladders, leaf springs, modern a arms, and power steering. Mechanically a very excellent car. The next step I'm going to do if it doesn't sell is the body and interior which is ok, but is an older restoration. Looks ok, but is showing its age. I would also add a new wire harness, heater and modern windshield wipers, current wipers non working, and update side glass. Windshield is new. Drive this summer as is, keep as is, or add body improvements this winter. Wife wants to start a small business and need seed money. Not a better deal out there, starting price is less than the new components alone. On May-15-17 at 18:06:31 PDT, seller added the following information: Notice**** Please see videos on YouTube titled " 55 Chevy red and white 1" " 55 Chevy red and white 2" and " 55 Chevy red and white 3" to help with description. The body is an older restoration which I made no changes to. Looks great from distance but close has scratches, chips, some dings etc. Mechanically all new as described. Car was built in Flint Mi. Yes I noticed rust as seen in video. It's a fun car, not a cream puff. No reserve, selling now to highest bidder. Tough to see go.On May-16-17 at 07:03:03 PDT, seller added the following information: 5/16/17 I'm going to put up a couple more videos in an attempt to point out flaws on the vehicle, mostly because I want the buyer to be happy with what they are purchasing. Mechanically there is nothing to talk about, the areas where the car may be improved upon are the same things eluded to in the description. The interior is tuck and roll pattern vinyl, which is ok, very usable and not brittle. But it is older, and vinyl getting stiff with age, does have some wear, certainly on the drivers seat edge. The door panels are getting older and some seams splitting. Kick panels by driver and front passenger seat are gone, and the air vents/ controls there are missing, likely due to weather and age. I had bought a heater box, but have not installed, so currently no heater. Heater ducts are there. Wipers are totally non functional, will need new electric wiper upgrade. Ceiling bows have rust. Interior lights currently non working. Side window are original, and could replaced for looks. I would also advise new weather strip there. There is some red stuff on the glass of the passenger rear window. Windshield new, rear window ok, but should have new seal put in rear window. Windows all crank ok including vent windows. The speedo cable is not hooked up so meter does not work. Fancy radio never use, but does work I believe. Have headphone jack hook up for playing music off of phone, works fine. Onto wiring harness. This is the original harness and fusebox. Now when the engine was put in new wires went to starter and distributer, so no problem there. The headlamps and taillights and turn signals work. But sometimes with gremlins, I advise new harness. Part of the problem I believe is I put LED tailamps in to brighten it up and the old harness is not up to it. The body is a big deal if you want a show event car. It looks great from 10 ft, closer you start to see flaws. There are chips, around hood area. There is some rust I noticed bleeding through around the rain channel here and there. The deck lid has rust along the interior bottom, and the doors are starting to show also on the inner bottom, as seen in video hopefully. I would certainly do rocker panel replacement, because they look like the restoration once included bondo in that area. Floor pans most likely have been patched, I hadn't pulled carpet but video hopefully show condition underneath. Trunk floor seems pretty good. Again, if you are looking for a bodywork show car it will cost some money. Just trying to point out the issues that surround an over 60 year vehicle that needs continued improvement. I will post some extra videos tonight. Thank you for the interestOn May-16-17 at 07:10:22 PDT, seller added the following information: And yet another addition, I don't have any shills or am I driving the bid up. I need to sell the vehicle for start up money for my wife's business, and since the opening bid has already been made it's going to the winner, period. On May-20-17 at 14:50:57 PDT, seller added the following information: More Description Videos and some questions answered:I put up 4 more videos to help describe the condition, they may also be found on youtube described " 55 Chevy Red and White 4" " 55 Chevy Red and White 5" " 55 Chevy Red and White 6" " 55 Chevy Red and White 7" Also about fuel supply~ all new lines, electric high pressure pump with gauge. Running Shell premium in vehicle. Gas gauge not hooked up have no clue if it works, and tank and straps are original. No leaks or anything but it is getting up in age. thanks
