What a great story! I have wanted one of these since I learned to drive one as a teenager! Four years ago my 14-year-old son came to me and said dad I want to go to West Point. We are from rural Alabama and not comfortable with the schools in our town so we found a service Academy prep school in Atlanta and before we knew it he was enrolled and off on his own...chasing his dream!!! He was a stellar student and a very talented baseball player. the school was 4 hours away. we knew that it was going to be lots of road time getting to watch him play baseball and football but in order to help him pursue his dreams we dove in. We knew that it was going to be a lot of miles on the interstate. So instead of killing a brand-new car we decided as a father-son project to go buy the best Buick Roadmaster we could find in the country and take it to a whole new level, which we did! We had a lot of professional help and guidance and by the end of the summer everything was perfect. This is what we did: First thing was to rebuild the old-school floating all over the road suspension system. We installed Moog stabilizing springs and Bilstein shocks all around. Then we added airbags on the rear shocks just in case we ever decided to tow our ski boat, which we never did. Next was the interior. We took out all the seats, the old carpet and headliner. We installed a soundproofing and insulating barrier on the bottom floor and on the roof ceiling. We followed the guidance of several roadmaster restoration forums TO THE "T". I guarantee this is the coolest temperature roadmaster on the road AND the quietest (from the inside, outside it has a sweet sounding exhaust). We replaced the carpet with brand-new carpet and a new headliner...reinstalled all the leather seating making sure that all switches levers etc. worked perfectly. Then installed a state-of-the-art parrot Bluetooth Radio and plenty of USB charging ports all around the car. We installed brand-new VERY EXPENSIVE(but worth it) high performance tires all around. NOW THE FUN STUFF!!! We stripped the motor of all power robbing parts and pieces including the under-powered fan and cooling system which were replaced with a modern day Electric fan system that runs the car about 40° cooler and never ever gets over that. We sent the computer off to be reprogrammed to run faster...and longer, and it does! This thing will fly!! Brand-new stainless exhaust system from front to rear and now it purrs like a kitten/lion with a little bit of sweet roar added. We went over the car from front to back and by the start of the school year we were ready to hit the road and we did!! it was a three-year experience and I never missed a baseball game or a football game for that matter. Most of the miles on this vehicle basically came from I-65. My son is now a cadet at the United States military Academy at West Point (Go Army) and it is time for the wagon to move to another family. The car has never missed an oil change or a tire balance or rotation! If anything ever needed fixing there was never a question. We had it fixed. I'm a successful businessman and there was absolutely nothing lacking on this car. It cranks up the first time you turn the key and will take you anywhere you want to go, and comfortably at that. It is a road warrior machine. Rides like a Lexus but doesn't cost near as much, lol. Its being replaced by a brand-new infinity, but it won't be the same. There is well over $20,000 dollars invested in this wonderful car! We hate to see it go but it is time. Its destined to make new memories for the next lucky owner. Best of luck!!
