2005 Jeep Liberty CRD (Common Rail Diesel) 4X4 Looking to find a compact, fuel- efficient, yet towing and/or four-wheel-drive vehicle? Then look no further, because you’ve found it here! 2nd Owner vehicle. Very clean. No rust! Only 104,500 miles. Low Mileage for what it is (a diesel only sold in the US 2 model years). Now you may be thinking “oh no, I don’t know about a diesel.” Let me tell you this thing has all kinds of torque (more than the 3.7L 6 cyl. gasoline version, as a matter of fact) and is FUN to drive. It really gets up and goes when you want it to! It’s so quiet it’s barely noticeable it’s not a gasoline. The rapid glow plugs have always worked flawlessly. Even on a cold day they’re on for 2 seconds or less and the engine fires right up. 2.8L I4 Turbocharged Diesel Engine. Great Fuel economy. 20+ mpg around town. With a simple tuner addition will get up to 26 city and 32 highway mpg! (Sorry, never got around to this myself. I have researched thoroughly and am happy to share my knowledge and research materials with the new owner if so desired). Runs great the way it is and still gets good mileage, so it never became a top priority for me). Four wheel drive. The real kind! True, transfer-case, four wheel drive with 4 Low, Neutral, 2 Hi, Full Time 4 Hi, and Part Time 4 Hi settings. The Full Time 4 setting is essentially the same as AWD (All Wheel Drive). Front and rear axles are allowed to turn at different speeds. More traction than 2WD, and less than Part Time 4 setting. Can be used all the time on any road conditions. Has a brand new AC Delco Battery! It’s amazing how tight the turning radius is and how easy it is to fit in cramped parking spots. We’ve used it for everything from family trips to the Colorado Rocky Mountains with 2 adults, 3 children (in car seats) and 2 full size dogs (all we needed was a receiver hitch cargo carrier for luggage) to an off-road Christmas Tree hunting excursion, to daily commuting through the urban jungle. But mostly it has been used as our family vehicle – easy use. We purchased it in Minnesota after the original owners traded it in with just under 49k miles. The retired original owners summered in MN and wintered in TX. The Liberty stayed garaged in MN without use in the winters during the first 5 years of its life. We have also always kept it garaged and from 2010 to 2014 it resided in Colorado before we moved to SC. It has never been on winter roads in the salt belt. It is hard to find too many more CRDs with this low of miles, which is one big reason we picked it over other options … the incredibly low and easy-use mileage!Please note that the check engine light is on. It came on 3 or 4 years ago. The code reads P0401 exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient detected. It has NOT and does NOT affect drivability. I thought cleaning the MAP sensor would eliminate it, but it didn't. Based on thorough research over the years it sounds like it is caused by a blocked EGR pathway and/or non functioning EGR valve. When the vehicle continues to run well as this one has, concensus is there's not much to be gained by fixing this as it is primarily pollution control function. That being said my research also has me me believing a green diesel eco tune will likely fix the CEL, will simultaneously boost fuel efficiency significantly, and because it severely limits the EGR valve function, will help keep the air intake system cleaner. I always planned to do this myself, but the vehicle runs so well it was hard to make it a priority.Windshield has a couple of cracks, so we are getting it replaced! It will be installed sometime in the next couple of days, so you will be getting a BRAND NEW windshield!It’s one of the most versatile vehicles you’ll find. We truly hate to sell it, but we are moving a long distance and to move it would be cost prohibitive. As an added bonus I will throw in a used brake controller I haven’t got around to installing yet. Vehicle is already wired for it, so with a simple install you’ll be ready to go on a trailer that has brakes. We are selling this! There’s no maybe about it and we don’t have a lot of time.
