Vehicle Detail
About the Seller-what we do I make a living by providing accurate descriptions of the vehicles I list for family, friends and estates. My feedback speaks for itself. I am not a dealer but I do have authority from the owner or the estate attorney to complete the transaction. I will gladly provide any additional details you may require to make an informed bidding decision. 3rd party inspections are welcome. I have clear Ohio title in hand for this vehicle ready to transfer to new owner. We put every vehicle on the lift, do a safety inspection (tires, brakes, cooling system, etc.) We take photos of the underside and under the hood. We test drive the cars to identify driveability issues and include all relevant facts in the auction description. We provide as much information as possible for bidders to make an informed decision on the value of the car. What a concept, eh? I am a mechanical engineer with 40 yrs experience in the vehicle industry. I take full responsibility for my descriptions and enjoy a good reputation by making sure there are no surprises at delivery. No extra paperwork fees with my auctions, just pay what you bid and make your own arrangements for pick up or shipping Note: This is a NO RESERVE auction. car goes to high bidder. 2006 Subaru Outback This car came from an Ohio estate. The owner passed away and left car to his son. The son did not have service records but based on the vehicle's overall good condition, the car appears to have been serviced and stored well. The paint shows well, there were no signs of long-term outside storage like big stashes of composting leaves you find in outside cars. The rotors show nice, even wear and the brakes engage smoothly and quietly. I changed the oil, filter and cabin air filter, replaced the power steering belt and had the alignment checked. The battery looks to have been replaced in the last year. All fluids under the hood were at correct levels when I inspected it. The transmission fluid looked clean and was at the correct level. Same with engine coolant reservoir. Both front and rear wipers AND washers are working--the reservoirs did not need washer fluid--another sign to me that the car has gotten regular service. Also 4 matching tires wearing evenly suggests they have been rotated. I'm not a Subaru guru, have only driven one or two. From friends who have them they seem to be pretty durable. This car impresses me with 175k miles the fact that it runs well and practically all accessories and equipment still work. It seems like a relatively in-expensive way to get AWD for northern winters (assuming we still have them). So this car could keep on going as it is well into the future but I'd consult a Subaru specialist to find out what maintenance you are likely to need going forward. I've driven this car about 250 miles: -starts and drives well with everything working -4-wheel disk brakes work smoothly and quietly--rotors wearing evenly. brakes appear to have been serviced in the past year or two -ice-cold AC -tires are matching 225/55 R17 with about 30% tread remaining -space saver spare and tools in the trunk -nice working OE-factory audio system with CD player -power drivers seat, working driver and passenger seat heaters -sport shifting option on automatic transmission which shifts normally -cruise control works fine -Car is very solid and complete. -Underside and under hood is clean with original undercoating still in evidence -Exhaust system is solid with no apparent leaks -Doors open and close smoothly, no sag, good panel gaps as shown in photos. -Windshield is un-nicked, door glass is all good, power windows, mirrors, lights, horn all working -Interior is very clean, non-smoking; only defect is driver's seat entry bolster tear mentioned above Issues/damage/nit-pics -the seat cover is worn through exposing foam on the entry edge of the driver's seat. -the rear hatch door latch does not work from the outside--I removed the access panel and opened it from the inside for the photos-scrape along bumper and rear passenger side panel-ding on passenger side door-auxiliary front lights (daytime running lights? not sure what they are but they do not work unless there's a switch i couldn't find.-there is something missing from the front right bumper, not a subaru guy so I'm not sure what goes there?-scrapes, nicks and scratches consistent with age and mileage. -the airbag light has stayed on several times. It's currently off. -check engine light came on after about 100 miles of driving. The code indicated "unexpected slow idle". I cleared the code and have driven the car another 75 miles and light has stayed off. NOTE: These indicators may or may not be on when you pick up the car. They have not interfered with the car's drive-ability but if you are not prepared to deal with these or other unknown issues that a car with 175k miles may have, please do not bid. I'm happy to answer any questions about the car's current status but remember I have no service records. Other than addressing the defects mentioned, I don't know of any services that the car needs. Based on driving the car a couple hundred miles I do not see any reason it could not be driven a reasonable distance (a few hundred miles)? home from here--Akron OH, 44333. However, it has 175k miles on it and I always advise bidders to have or get AAA's "plus" account which includes extended towing or other emergency road side service. If you're one of the few people who don't know it yet, like most used cars, this one is being sold as-is where-is with no gaurantees that it will do what you, I or anybody else thinks it will do. Scammers? Don’t even think about it! I do not do bundled shipping. I don’t care if you are in the merchant marine or your late dad was the president of Sri Lanka--if you don’t have a PayPal account we aren’t doing business, period. And furthermore, please practice your English on more gullible sellers. The boiler rooms you guys call from are so noisy these days I can hear your buddies in the background asking the same stupid scammer questions: “So why are you selling your... ‘item’…” Get a real job.
