Here is my 1965,(not 1966 as originally listed!) Honda S90 that I have owned for 40 years. The bike was purchased with 6575 miles on it, it now has 6654.9 miles on it. The bike has been rebuilt, serviced and carressed only by my hands with the ongoing goal to ensure originality, real patina, furhter to replace parts only with NOS items and to put the bike into an original state. My goal was to make the bike mechanically as perfect and original as possible, without trying to repaint the tank, frame and painted parts to turn the bike into a perfect unrideable restoration. In the end, a bike with original patina and real use wear is more valuable to my and those in the know's eyes. ------ Below is a long list of whats been done. This bike is true to its original form, even down to the correct washers, nuts and bolts. I'm not kidding! All parts installed are Original Honda NOS parts unless otherwise noted. FYI, I was a professional Honda motorcycle mechanic for years. So here goes, starting at the front: ------ Front forks disaasembled, cleaned, new fork seals, fork pistons, fork guides, fork boots. New steering races and balls. New fork cap bolts and steering stem cap nut. New front brake hub, bearings, spokes, brake backing plate, front brake cable, shoes, brake springs, speedo cable and an aftermarket rim. New period correct Chen Shin front tire, tube and rim band. Fuel tank is original with dings and scrapes, never painted and has new chrome side panels, new fuel petcock, original knee rubbers and correct emblems both sides. Seat is an NOS original Honda seat complete, with correct tool box attached underneath. Tool kit is a correct period tool kit in correct pouch. At the rear is the original rear wheel which had some surface corrosion and spokes with oxidization, but with new wheel bearings and seals, new sprocket dampers, brake backing plate, shoes, brake springs. Period correct Dunlop K70 rear tire, tube and rim band. Swing arm has new bushings and is original never painted. Frame is original with accumulated rubs scrapes etc, never painted ------ Electrical: New rectifier, ignition switch (and fork lock), headlamp, tail lamp. Correct battery carrier and wiring in battery box. New Horn assy. New mirrors. Expect to intall a new battery as they do not last long, particularly when not ridden regularly. All switch gear is correct and functioning properly. ------ Engine: Top end - new valves, valve springs, rocker arms, rocker arm shafts and camshaft. new cam chain, cam chain roller, cam chain tensioner roller, cam chain sprockets, cam chain tensioner spring. New ignition advance mechanism, new points plate and contacts. New +.50 piston and rings, wrist pin and clips, newly bored +.50 cylinder. New clutch fiber and steel discs, new pressure plate. New oil strianer. New oil seals throughout. Bottom end checked perfectly. New stator cover. New clutch cover. All new cover screws left and right side. Carb cleaned and rebuilt with new jets, needle, float valve and gaskets. New air cleaner, rubber connecting tube and sealing springs. New silencer (muffler) with stock insert. New rear fender and mud flap with chrome mount. New countershaft sprocket and final drive chain. Again, these are all Original Honda NOS parts, excepting the front rim. Also included is an original NOS tool kit in pouch, an NOS Owner's Manual and a period Honda factory Parts Manual. ---- There are many other little things that have been done and have escaped my memory. The bike starts first kick, idles happily, shifts as original and attracts a crowd wherever it goes. The bike that started the 'You meet the nicest people on a Honda'. ---- Please ask questions, ask for more detail pictures, whatever you need. I checked the wire harness frame tag as suggested, and voila, it is a 1965. Thank you for the input.
