Vehicle Detail
An outstanding example of the 928 in Grand Prix White and Black interior. 5 speed manual. Original paint and interior and drive train. Motor and transmission operate flawlessly. All instrumentation and power accessories work as it should. With upgraded suspension, the car turns like it is on rails. At 25 years old, a great vintage collectible that is equipped with the right amount of driver comfort, performance and safety features. Driving the 928 GT is really remarkably easy. Excellent road behavior, at low and high speeds. Great performance, great safety, great pleasure. Driving is comfortable, relaxing, very stable, very fast. Luxury and performance combined in a well styled GT sports car that still looks great. The Porsche 928 GT is a 2+2 coupe, front engine, liquid cooled, rear drive, with a steel monocoque body. The engine is a double overhead camshaft all-alloy 5.0L, 32V, 326 hp. The 928 being the only production car sold by Porsche with an 8 cylinder motor. Production years 1989 thru 1991 with a total 2,078 units worldwide with less than 400 entering the U.S. Mainly galvanized steel, the doors, front fenders, and hood are aluminum for weight savings. The GT manual transmission model comes with shorter final drive ratio than earlier models. Thicker cylinder head casting than earlier models to strengthen head against cracking. Standard in the GT is the computer controlled 0-100% PSD locking differential for more grip. This 928 is equipped with the Weissach axle, this is a special rear suspension arrangement devised for the Porsche 928 to eliminate lift-throttle over steer by allowing the rear suspension to adjust itself during cornering maneuvers. I am the 4th owner. The car is currently located in Charleston, SC. Car has been extremely well cared for by each owner and have maintenance records from the original owner. Needs nothing mechanically. First owner located in California, where Niello Porsche did all service and repair. Extensive records. Clutch at 120k. Steering Rack, Fuel Pumps and Filter at 103k. This car has been meticulously maintainned during its life. Clear title in name of seller. Second owner was in Arizona and had service done at Redline Motorsports along with Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs and GTS side view mirrors at 122l miles. Third owner continued with a thorough maintenance approach replacing for example: brake master cylinder, installed short shifter, Silverstar Headlights, Solid Motor Mounts, clutch slave cylinder, etc. Within last 500 miles distributor caps and rotors, timing belt, water pump and updated PKT-B advanced 928 timing belt tensioner was done by European Road and Racing in North Charleston, SC, meaning the timing belt is always properly tensioned for less wear on gears, and water pump. Active belt management and real dampening lets the engine run more smoothly and keeps the cams better synchronized. Never needs 'retensioning'. Compression Test @ 150k: 1-176, 2-175, 3-177, 4-175, 5-178, 6-180, 7-175, 8-176 Car comes with 2 sets of wheels, original 16' wheels plus a set 18" gloss black powder coated new finish factory wheels 18 x 8 Fronts/ 18 x 9 Rears.
